Overall quite decent except I don't like the snores but if you are sleeping good and feeling good then I don't know that the snores need to be bothered with.

At some point I think you might like to try the auto mode function and let the machine try to deal with the snores and see what happens.
You got a fancy machine but using it in cpap mode...the non fancy mode.

I would give the current settings a go for a week...they don't urgently need to be messed with.
Then I would switch over to auto bilevel mode (did you get the manual that explains how?)...be careful with the knob..it's a bit touchy and you might end up wanting a new knob.

If you want to try auto bilevel mode...these would be my suggested settings.

Minimum EPAP....7
PS minimum 2...PS max of 4
Maximum IPAP...15 (I doubt it will even go anywhere near it anyway).
BiFlex...2

Don't tell the DME that you are messing with the settings....they most likely will have a cow.

Once I went to bilevel I never looked back. I think you might like the comfort it offers. Your choice though.
And as long as you use the machine no one cares about the settings in terms of compliance stuff.

My sleep doctor made one comment about me changing my settings, and I told her I made the changes for two reasons: It was more comfortable sleeping and my sleep apnea is still under control, and in fact looked better than what I had at the pressure that was prescribed for me. She had nothing else to say after that.

Snoring, in an of itself, is a detriment to good sleep, because it increases the work of breathing, and thus detracts from the rest and recuperation you should be getting. Hopefully, a modest pressure increase should take care of them.

I had a roommate that snored BADLY, I stuck one of my spare machines on him, just so that *I* could sleep better (you could hear his noise all over the house).. after a while, he told me he felt better...

Yeah, I already had a little chat with OP about the snores and why we don't like too many of them.

While they aren't horribly bad...there's still more of them that I would like but until she gets the machine into the DME (supposed to get the heated hose upgrade kit) and I am sure they will check to see if I set it to the RX of 8...and I did. I don't want to rock the boat.
She's only got insurance coverage for a handful of more days and once the DME won't be involved she is going on a snore killing hunt in auto mode.

She reports to sleeping and feeling great...and hubby is no longer bothered by the snores so it's not critical that she go fixing the snores tonight. She's going to wait until no one is watching. And that's just next week.

I am not using my insurance to get my machine because my insurance ends at the end of the month....we just can't afford COBRA for me and hubby.
The hospital gave me the mask that they used for my sleep study. I am a mouth breather so I have respironics amara view. I only used it that one night but I was able to read and watch tv as I drifted off. I like it...but I have used it for only one night....who knows how I will feel after a few nights.

Anyway.....Can I go to a local DME to get masks thru the insurance? Just thinking I might be able to actually get something free since we have already met our out of pocket part and everything else is covered at 100%.

Thanks
I bought one on Ebay

Yesterday morning I woke up with the mask off my face and on my chin. I talk in my sleep so I think I was trying to talk and could not so in my sleep I moved the mask off of my face and on to my chin.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

Just remember, if the dme flips out... who works for who. You don't work for them, they're not paying you.

This is going to be a one and only DME visit due to insurance ending very soon.

Put the machine in auto but change it back to cpap mode for the visit to the DME who will likely check the settings to make sure it matches the RX.
I doubt they will want to review the data beyond the on screen data if that.

Don't give them any reason to delay getting what you want from them while you can.

For any future images lose the snore graph on the bottom right. You can see the snores on the Events graph and trying to show too many graphs makes it hard to evaluate the graphs you do show...too small.
No need to redo this one though.

For tonight...
Min EPAP 8
PS min...3
PS max ...4
leave max IPAP wherever it is.
