Re: Coughing and sneezing
Yes.
Coughing and sneezing disrupts the normal air flow and remember these machines only measure air flow because they have no idea if you are asleep or not.
If that air flow gets disrupted either with awake breathing irregularities or coughing or sneezing it can flag that disruption or irregularity by mistake.

I may have to RISE but I refuse to SHINE.
Re: Coughing and sneezing
So would yawning do that as well?
Re: Coughing and sneezing
In theory it could.
There is certain criteria that needs to be met before the machine flags an event of any sort.
There has to be a certain amount of air flow reduction and it has to last a certain period of time. I don't see a yawn lasting the required duration minimum of 10 seconds but if you are yawning then you are awake and the disruption with potential awake/semi awake irregular breathing along with the yawn...might could cause a flag. So it might be the yawn or might simply be the awake breathing itself being irregular.

Re: Coughing and sneezing
Odd thing about yawning--it is believed to be a reflex to reduced oxygen levels.
When cpap is working correctly, higher oxygen levels should stop the reflex.
If you continue to yawn, consult your doctor for an overnight pulse-ox test.
