I traded in the DreamStation for an Airsense - OMG!!

Post by DaisySmith » Sun Mar 18, 2018 5:56 pm

I posted before about the troubles I was having with puffs of air in my Dreamstation. Well it got better than worse again. I was floored when Apria said I could swap it out for an AirSense, just like that. No red tape. So I did and my Sleepyhead stats look SO MUCH better. My AHI last night with 0.50 and I slept for 8 hours. I can't believe I've spent the last year suffocating with that horrible DreamStation when I could have been actually sleeping well. I have no idea if I got a bad machine or if it just doesnt work for me but I am finally optimistic and hating my machine so much less. Another bonus is that I dont use the humidifier and it has cover for the side which makes the whole machine so much more compact. Im so glad I switched.

I did the same thing a month ago with the same results. Glad to hear you got some relief from the puffs.
Is the Airsense louder with the side plate in place of the water chamber?

You're not the first that's had that kind of reaction. Some people just really do a lot better with the resmed... (and some do better with the respironics).

Glad you got the one that works for you!

I read comments frequently about the sound of one vs the other. I absolutely don't hear my DreamStation at all. I'm lucky I guess.

Same here. I guess we're both lucky.

Not a bit. I switched from humidifier to cover plate over a year ago, and there's still no sound from my machine.

excellent! so glad that you got better results. i think your post underlines just how different we all are. two dreamstation owners came in to support their machines. and, obviously, the machine works, not just for them, but hundreds of others.

for whatever reason, it wasn't working for you. i had a similar experience with intellipap. i bought it mainly because of it's low price. and like you, i tried it for about a year before i bought the one i currently have.

my numbers and quality of sleep improved almost at once!

hey, whatever it takes to improve our sleep, right?

Thats the great part, the side cover works great and there is no additional noise. Its so much more compact and easy to move around without the water chamber (which I dont use)
