Remstar Auto with Cflex

Post by Davidmcc » Mon Mar 07, 2005 6:38 pm

I am about to purchase an APAP and am, (probably foolishly) seriously considering purchasing an APAP and software online from US. A question for the owners of the current Remstar Auto with Cflex. Is the Cflex feature the only modification made to the Remstar Auto (which is the model currently available to me locally) or does the current model include other significant modifications from the earlier model, possibly relating to software interface and reporting features for example, which appears to me to be the main difference between the Pro and Pro 2 models?

I think the only difference is the C-flex. rested gal would know for sure, she has both machines. Will you have to get a different plug to use the US model?

Remstar Auto with Cflex

I just received my Remstar Auto with C-flex with software today (ordered online). I had my first sleep study last October at age 63 with AHI +70. I have been using a Remstar Plus with C-flex at 13 cm H2O since then and feel much better. I use the C-flex at the highest setting (relief) of 3. I thus have no experience not using C-flex but have a feeling I would be a lot less compliant without it or some other similar mode.

I am from Pittsburgh Pa so I should be a Respironics fan but I replaced (on my dime) my DME supplied full face Respironics mask, which was real leaky on me with a ResMed Ultra Mirage (as I learned from this forum) and am very happy with it.

As for your specific question, my software came with Version 1.41 Rev. 3 which I understand from other posts on this forum is the latest and I would think you would want. I don't know how it is different from previous Encore Pro Versions.

I am going to go set up my Auto now. Good luck!

Providing the power cord is not hard wired I do not anticipate there being a problem. I will be using an Australian power cord, the only difference between the US and Aus cords being the plug that goes into the wall

David, where do you think we plug ours?

Seriously tho. The only difference that I have read, was the Cflex. It is a BIG difference tho. The doctors don't think so, but then again they don't get hooked to the hose every night.

Since the on line price differential between the Remstar Auto without C-Flex and with C-Flex is small why would one want one here in the States without c-flex assuming there is no other difference (since the C-flex can be turned off on both models).

Just a thought. In your location in Australia there is probably only one distributor. Why would they want to admit they have the Auto with c-flex in stock until they have sold all their older models so they don't get stuck with them. Price considerations aside if you pressed them they might be able to "find" you an auto with C-Flex, then again they might tell you to get lost. As they say in the SAS , Those Who Dare - Win.

Since we're talking remstar auto....can you get a remstar auto without c-flex? My pressure isn't very high and I don't have any trouble breathing against the pressure. Do they even sell a remstar auto without c-flex? I didn't see one for sale on cpap.com
