Amara View mask

Post by jesserdoc » Thu Feb 15, 2018 1:21 pm

Has anyone tried this Amara View mask? My ResMed AirTouch F20 leaks once I've fallen asleep and my jaw relaxes. I'm a new user and my doc suggested I try this Amara mask. Of course, I'm told Medicare won't cover a new mask for 90 days, even though this one leaks and my readings show that. In 90 days I will be out of compliance!A catch 22!!. I can pay for it and order it on-line for $169. Anyone know a bargain site?

I used the Amara View during my most recent sleep study and it worked well for me.

It was light and un-obstructive.

I was pleased enough with it that when I ordered a new mask, I ordered the Amara View.

Unfortunately, once I started using it at home, I had a heck of a time getting it adjusted.

It was a constant fiddling with the mask. So I gave up and went back to my old nasal mask.

I am going to give it another try though.....

Try searching the forum for Amara View. You will probably find more comments and reviews.

Can't comment on the Amara, but I did try something today with my F20.

The frame is the same for the "Regular" and "For Her" models in both AirTouch and AirFIt. I'm in between sizes on the Fitting Template so today I ordered a smaller size for around $50.

I use the AirFit and have not tried the AirTouch. But I may in the future

I absolutely could not get it to seat properly and gave up in total frustration. I went back to my AirFit F20. I wish you better luck.

I have been using Amara View for 6+ mos. I like it fine. It can be tricky to get it to seal and it is prone to leaking as mall amount where the hose swivel attaches to the mask. If you move the hose around you can get it ti quit. I guess I got lucky as I found one on Ebay for $70 and it was what is called the "Fit Pack" which includes all cushion sizes. If you look around you can probably find one cheaper.

I will add that if I dont tape my mouth and or wear a cervical coller that my mouth will open and most times it causes leaks.

I thought it was great except the nose seat wasn't big enough for my nose on the large. It was wide enough (maybe a little too wide) but it wasn't long enough for my long nose.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"

I have used the Amara View and F20 both. I am currently using the F20 with the Amara View as my back up mask. The only way I have been able to keep my jaw from dropping when sleeping is to use a firm, foam cervical collar I purchased at Walmart. I use the collar with both of these masks. If I don't use the collar I get massive leaks caused by my jaw dropping when I sleep.

I have been using the Amara View mask for about a year now. I like it very much. I tried the F20 but it hurt the bridge of my nose and I found I didn't like having so much of my face covered by the mask. The Amara View can be challenging to fit. Even now I have occasional nights or sequence of nights when I just can't seem to get it seated so it doesn't leak too much. It has taken most of the year to get to the point where most of the time I can just slap it on and it is fine. I think what happens to me is that some nights I am restless and toss and turn and it pulls on the hose causing the mask to slip. Now that I have been using it for this length of time, I am very happy with it.

Many of us have addressed jaw drop by wearing a foam cervical collar. I like this 4-inch firm - https://www.walmart.com/ip/DMI-Universa ... wc8u03asiw

I have worn one every night for over five years.

I've tried the Amara View and found for the size cushion I was using my nostrils didn't seem to cover the nostril openings, hence some leakage. I kept it and may go back to it. If I recall I also had to call our hosts by phone to get the "best" price based on the "call for pricing" message on the order page here - I recommend you do the same if you're buying one, and it comes with return insurance included:
