Oxygen Tubing Source

Post by filovirus » Thu Jan 04, 2018 5:30 pm

My DME is pricing oxygen tubing at around 15 dollars each. Since I own my concentrator, they do not supply the tubing. Is there a DME that is more amenable to providing the tubing for their cpap customers or should I just buy it online. I am not cool with paying the DME full price for tubing. I hesitate changing DME's because my last one was horrible with billing practices.

I just took a quick look on Amazon, and they have several different kinds of oxygen tubing available at a much lower price.

Why would you replace it, cat eat it? Jim

Depending on the tubing, it becomes inflexible and then leaky, or as you mention, the cat eats it, the chair rolls over it. My Dad would start off with a longer length than he needed and then trim it, and then it wouldn't leak for awhile, and then he'd need to trim it again. Provided the cat didn't eat it, he lengthened how long his line lasted. My Dad's stuff was completely covered by Medicare and his supplemental, so he never had to worry about coverage on that.

FWIW, this is where my late neighbor ordered her oxygen lines and supplies. I have no personal experience with them other than accepting the delivered packages for her. https://tinyurl.com/y7p2u64t

The Green hose is the heavy duty, it's tough and almost impossible to crimp. As far as cats, you would not like my suggestion so I won't make it. I use 50 foot, the max you are supposed to use, never had a leak, except when Lincare put a connector on that leaked (Junk). However, I don't move my hose around, make sure you get the Green HD Hose. I don't splice mine. Jim

And, pretty reasonably priced at that.

My new puppy chewed on it. Found 50 ft for 3.89 each. Not a big deal, since I am still saving 500-600 a year not renting a concentrator.
