I had a bad whistle noise coming from the clear plastic swivel joint at the base of my mask. I changed the mask but the whistle was still there. It is quite loud at night.
The joint is over loose and depending on the angle/position of the hose the whistle started or stops. I have had 4 Amara's and the last three whistled badly from that joint. It's must be a change in manufacturing.
I unclipped the silicone mouthpiece from the mask and wound some thread between a plastic washer on the inside of the mask at the base and the hard plastic part of the swivel joint above it.
It was enough to stiffen up the joint so that it still swivels freely but no air escapes.
My mask was so quite last night I found it hard to get to sleep! I feel great this morning.
This dose not interfere with the vent, just the swivel function.

Good to know, thanks for sharing info. A little trial & error works most of the time...

Re: Fix for the Amara view swivel joint whistle noise
Thanks for this tip. It has helped but I am still finding it a nightmare with noise. When I first got the machine and mask it was so quiet. After using a soclean machine it’s now very noisy at the swivel and elbow joint and leaks air there.
I wonder if when sold they apply a sealant to make it quieter, that comes off with cleaning. I am find this too noisy to sleep. Can anyone recommend a better mask? Thanks, Newb

The Amara View is old news. Lots of newer and improved full face masks out there and it's trial and error as to whether they suit you or not.Bookwatcher wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 10:06 pmThanks for this tip. There is a reason we don't advise that people use the SoClean device....it can damage stuff...like your mask, your machine (it voids warranties with some brands) and your lungs.

I have used Amara View for several years and they all leak to some extent where the cushion attaches to the swivel. For a while I would use silicone caulk around the swivel on the outside where it goes through the frame. This seemed to help some. I finally realized that it was the cushion leaking, not where the swivel goes through the frame. I rerouted my house so my cat wouldn't get the hose and I noticed the leak was less. My hose now comes under my pillow then up to the mask. I side sleep. Before this happened I was going to try putting some silicone tape around the swivel where it goes into the cushion before I forced cushion onto the swivel. On my next cushion change I will try this. I have never tried a different mask as my DME is a pain in the arse.
