Sleep Doc/Center Recommendation

Post by MarcoSil » Thu Dec 28, 2017 10:33 am

After 5 years of going it alone on CPAP therapy after a sleep test and lousy support in New Mexico, I am now in Austin, Texas. I thought I would take the opportunity to find a professional to review where I am at and maybe offer recommendations for improvement.

Can anyone recommend someone in the Austin area?

What help and improvement are you looking for. You can probably find all the help you need right here.

I don't live in the area, but talking to others with the same problem, I found that the attention I received at my stand alone sleep clinic was superior to the local hospital. The sleep suite looked like a hotel room and everyone worked to see that I was comfortable during my study. Instead of having to wait for results, I had them from the sleep specialist (MD) the morning I left. I even could have left with a mask and machine that very same morning.

If you're looking for a back door list of providers, I logged into my CPAP.com account (the sales end, not this forum), went to personal information, prescription, add prescription feature, and it gave me a list to choose from for my city and state.

I have found healthgrades.com to be a fairly reliable point of reference for many specialties if one has no specifically targeted referral. For the Austin area, I found this doc to have impressive credentials and board certifications as well as good patient reviews:

While the practice group he is in is primarily cardiology, one of his specialties is sleep medicine and is board certified in that area.
