AirFit 20 full face

Post by Lou Cypher » Sat Dec 16, 2017 9:47 am

So far so good with this one..... I can actually put it on and have the straps adjusted to no air leaks before going to sleep......

after 4 days the numbers have calmed down and I am happy with them......

I do have one issue that is holding me back from the doing the Happy Dance and calling it a complete success.

After removing the mask in the morning the bridge of my nose is red and has a indentation across it for a few hours before it goes away....... I have tried loosening the top straps but I can't go too far or the mask leaks on the top and upper side.......

I am hoping someone else has gone through this and found how to correct the issue......

I saw my Doc last week and he faxed a script for my DME to send me a new AirSense 10 autoset, so I am awaiting to see if it actually gets cleared by insurance and arrives at my house......I will be like a kid at Christmas time..... Oh wait,,, it is Christmas time...... LOL

When I had that problem with a previous mask, I used a piece of moleskin on my nose every night. You can find it at drug stores in the foot care section. If you decide you want to use it every night, you can find rolls of it on the internet for a very reasonable price. I would simply cut a piece of it and place it on my nose every night. The RT I worked with when I first started treatment told me about it. She said her husband used it every night for the same reason.

I have the same problem. But, it's a lot better using a mask liner. And somehow just with time it seems to be less of a problem.

If you use the same mask all the time , the underlying structure of the face conforms somewhat to the mask. That is what makes the mask fit work better.

I have used the AF F20 on several occasions, but when I do, my AHI is always 1-2 points higher because of the adjusting during the night. I have used the original Quattro for 8+ years with an average AHI of 1-1.5. No matter what new mask I try, I always go back to the Quattro.

The AirTouch F20 cushion will fit the head gear for the AirFit F20 and may solve your problem. I didn't have any red marks at the bridge of my nose even with high pressures.

The AirTouch is harder to clean, however (no soap and water) but it may be worth trying if the red marks are really bugging you. Just keep your old cushion if you want to go back to it.

Does the moleskin have a sticky side? Or do you have to use some sort of tape to stick it on your nose?

I'm having the same problem except that the marks aren't going away now. I'm developing sores. I'm waiting for a Gecko pad to see if that helps. In the meantime, I'm going back to my first, and leakiest, F&P Simplus mask until the sores heal.

Use a band aid on your nose until it heals. I had to trim some of the adhesive portion in order to get it to fit and not get in my eyes.

Moleskin has a sticky/adhesive side.

Make sure you're using the correct size mask. When I used the quattro, it was size small. Now I use the Air Fir F20 . size medium. No red marks or problems at the bridge of my nose. Only issue is strap marks. Had those also with the quattro. The marks from the F20 are no better or worse then the ones with the quattro.
