Ahhh sweet bliss
For the last couple of weeks I have been breaking in my Hybrid and trying various configurations.
Last night, because my nose was sore again, I picked up my good ol' Activa and strapped her on.
Ahhhhhh what bliss
Slept til 7am and haven't done that in a long time.
Darn Hybrid rides up half way over my chin and the pillows wind up either inside my nostril or pressing so hard they make it hurt. And the hard plastic top of the mouth area presses on the upper lip.
I'm not totally giving up on it ... will keep it around in case I have a cold and can't breath with the Activa .. but I'm afraid I have to go back.
The Hybrid shows a lot of promise and maybe with the second generation ( if it survives long enough for them to make one ) it will be better.
I hope so.

I use the hybrid. almost every night. What made it work for me was:
1) Cut off the chin-flap.
2) Either wear my partial plates to bed, or use an old chin strap under my
chin, and over the top of my head to create "chipmunk" cheeks. Either of
these methods help to seal the corners of the medium size mouthpiece.

+ Aussie heated hose.

Mine is right here on the desk.
I just got it, bought it used--I haven't tried it yet, but that wasn't an option.

I tried for 2 1/2 months and never could make the Hybrid work for me. I seem to be "in between" sizes of the nasal pillows. Large are too big and I had to jam the mediums up so tight that my nose was on fire for a couple of hours each morning. I know a lot of folks love the Hybrid, and I'm glad that they've found an interface that works well for them.

Love my hybrid. First mask I've ever used and when I went to pick it up the RT who had never seen it before said the medium fit me perfect. Wrong... I went home changed to the large, snipped the holder between the nose pillows and I have not had any leaks. I'm going to order another for a spare and a F&P 432 to try something different.

I had to vote that mine is in my nightstand drawer. I found it very uncomfortable in addition to leaving strap marks on my face and my encore readings were substantially more negative with an increased AHI. Perhaps if I experimented with it more I could improve on it. I thought when I bought it I was getting the magic solution for nasal stuffiness during a cold and that it could also be a good trade off for my Breeze occasionally. For now it's still the Breeze every night with my nightstand drawer getting fuller with masks that I've purchased and can't/don't use.

I think I'm a total outlier when it comes to masks. My favorite one, from which I clearly get the best numbers, is the much maligned Respironics ComfortFull 2. I keep trying the Hybrid, which seems to be a superior design, with no luck. The Fisher & Paykel HC432 I have used the past two nights has totally abraded the left side of my nose just below the bridge, and gives me no better numbers than the HC431. The Res*ed Ultra Mirage Full Face doesn't give me as low an AHI as the CF2, and both of them press too hard on my lower teeth roots. The Breeze and Respironics ComfortLite 2 aggravate me, and I hate taping.
Sounds like country music, eh?

Re: Ahhh sweet bliss
I think one of the voting options should have been : "Kicked it to the curb"
...because that's what I did with my hybrid.
On a positive note, I will say that other than ResMed's Ultra Mirage™ Full Face, the Hybrid was the only other FF that didn't make my face hot. But I'm still waiting for something that can even remotely touch the UMFF. I still can't believe it, but lately I sleep better with the UMFF than my Activa.
It's worth every cent, and then some.

As Ralph Kramden might have said :inacpapfog wrote:Yup, I have the Activa and the UMFF in my collection too!
For me, the Activa was pretty good, before I discovered Swift. As far as the UMFF, it can join Vader's Hybrid....kicked to the curb!
A-Ha! --- but you STILL have the UMFF in your collection!
But seriously, we're lucky we have options, right?

I still use my Hybrid, bought it 3 months ago. It works fine for me ( with the chin flap cut off). I don't manage to wear it a complete night, usually around 3 to 4 in the morning I don't seem to be able to control the leaking. I ususally finish off the night with my swift nasal pillow mask.
A big problem with this mask is the inferior head gear. The velcron straps simply don't work
