Ugh, how about some more masks with the hose mounted on top?
I don't understand positioning it in front where it just makes the mask 4 or 5 times bigger than it has to be.

It's all personal preference. I've never been able to stand anything going out the top, but it's a common enough configuration that it must work for many people.

I find that very weird. You have no problem wearing what is basically an elephant trunk, but if it's on top of your head and out of the way you can't stand it? But I know some folks here think I'm a bit weird, so to each his own. I just wish there was more than one choice in masks for me.

The loops did take some getting used to. I had mildly achy ears for about a week, but now that I've been using it for years, the only time my ears ache is on the rare occasion that I get them too tight.

It's having it in front of/between my eyes that I can't stand. For me, having the hose go down toward my chest is "out of the way". That's why it's personal preference.

Well, if you can see where the hose is attached on a Dreamwear, you're the first person I've known with eyestalks!
I don't know anyone else that can see the top of their head without a mirror.

Just looked at the dreamwear -- so the straps are basically soft hoses? Interesting idea. If you sleep on your side or stomach, does one side close off, or do you need a special pillow for that mask?

This is what I envisioned when you said the hose came out the top.

Sleep any way you want, and yes, if one side does close, the other side has enough airflow. Best designed mask there is, IMNSHO.

Coconur, I started with the Dreamwear, and, as you guessed, one side can close off when you press on that side. The airflow is then all directed to the other side, so you still get the same therapy.

Sleeping Ugly wrote:I have been on CPAP therapy for three months and 2.5 months of it I have had the pleasure to be able to get good therapy with a nasal mask pillow (switched successfully from a horrid full face mask). Until last night I never had any problem with keeping my mouth shut (insert jokes here). Last night, I woke myself up numerous times because my mouth had dropped open and I had broken the therapy seal. I know there are many of you out there who knows what a horribly uncomfortable feeling that is.
I am wondering--why now? I don't have a cold or allergies, I could breathe just fine through my nostrils and my Sleepyhead graph didn't show anything unusual. I had one hyponea and one CA during 8.5 hours of sleep. Only 3 RERAs and two VS.
I pray this is an isolated incident or sleep gremlins messing with me. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Colds and Congestion Allergies, Gremlins, All valid reason, also in deep sleep you may normally mouth breath, your body follows different rules when we sleep. Basically , when as;eep we are on auto pilot. Jim

I think for those who like to read and such, that the hose-up method would cause vision issues. I don't have an answer to who reads while wearing a cpap mask, but I'm trying

I've never tried their nasal mask as I'm a FFM guy. However, the only "hard" parts on my FFM are the clip holders for the quick-connect straps and the actual port and associated hardware. As stated previously, the exhale ports are small and make almost no noise. I'm not sure how to have a vent pointing upward on a CLOTH nasal mask without running the risk of sealing itself off from the patient.
If I could find some double-sided tape to put on the cloth mask and attach to my face to prevent leaks, I'd never consider another mask. As it is, I'm not considering another mask, so I've accepted the limitations of the Anew. Yes, eye leakage is one of them. There are some videos on youtube to show how to adjust the mask to alleviate some of that.

The bottom line is that there are so many different types of masks because there are so many different types of people. The trick is for each of us to find the one that works best, or at least well, for us. I just got curious and looked up my order history. I've been using the bella for nearly 6 years -- it's kind of like a good old friend now.
