Tired Since December

Post by psm49766 » Mon Mar 07, 2005 8:59 am

Back in Dec. I went to a sleep clinic and was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea, and prescribed a CPAP machine. After a month and a half, I was still tired during the day. The sleep clinic did a nap study and ruled out narcolepsy. a prescription for Provigil was given to keep me alert during the day, with no results. Now I'm on a AutoCPAP and that doesn't seem to be relieving my daytime tiredness. I've been getting between 7- 8-1/2 hours a sleep each night. Any suggestions????????

I am newbie too. BUt, from what I understand, it can take several months for a person to feel better with xpap. It is not necessarily an overnight transformation.

Well, I am not a doctor. Guest was correct - some people feel better almost immediately, some take a long time to recover. Also, have you had your doctor check for any other possible problems? Thyroid or other hormonal problems? OSA is often tied in with other problems, and it's not always certain which comes first - which problem causes the other. For instance, a slow thyroid can cause sleep problems, and sleep problems can slow the thyroid.
If you don't feel that there is ANY improvement, you might need to talk to your doctor and see if there could be another contributing reason.

Let's not forget Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and possible vitamins defficiency. Do you eat a healty breakfast? Caffiene intak? (It can have alot of rebound tiredness or even the opposite effect).
