Can I get elasticity back in my mask

Post by Addie » Sun Oct 29, 2017 7:24 pm

I have my older mask that is pretty loose. Loss lots of elasticity. If I wash it in hot water and put in drier do you think I can tighten it up. Or is there any other way. Thanks

No other way that I know of short of using scissors and removing stuff and sewing back together.

My first P10 headgear was the blue headgear and I would have to wash it about once a month to get it to shrink back.
Finally nothing worked so I got a new headgear but got the pink headgear which is a bit smaller and it's been over a year now with that headgear and haven't had to wash it once to shrink it.

You didn't say which mask headgear you are talking about so I don't know that whatever you are using will respond to hot water shrinking but if it isn't usable the way it is then you really don't have anything to lose.

What mask are you using? Headgear is replaceable so you may be able to get a new one.

AFAIK, only the P10 headgear can be restored by washing in very hot water.
Most other headgear are made in different layers, and some die.
Ebay or Amazon often has ads, and a "certain" online retailer has good prices for OEM or third party headgear.

Sorry it took so long to answer. i have been busy.
The mask I am talking about is the wisp by respondics.
I am getting the new mask p10 tomorrow but I just wanted to experiment with my old one.

I do not know yet if I will be able to get used to pillow nasals and other than the straps I liked the wisp.

Are the eBay frames legit. Or are they copies.
Does anyone here buy off eBay.

As a general rule, there is not enough volume for a manufacturer to justify making copies. So, all of the frames should be from Respironics manufacture. If in doubt, ask the seller. And always check the seller's ratings.

On Amazon you can buy the replacement headgear for about $20 or the entire mask for $54.

Chicago granny,
I also liked the wisp except for one problem. I have fairly large earlobes and the bottom strap always rode up and bothered my ears. That is why I am thinking of trying the p10 but we will see tomorrow when I go to see them.
Thanks for the links to the reviews

Medicare and my insurance pays for a new mask every 3 months.
