resmed airsense 10 "wifi" ???
resmed airsense 10 "wifi" ???
trying to assist someone in another cpap group.
she has a resmed airsense 10 machine. i do as well. mine has a 2g gsm cellular connection to send data to my dme.
she has issues with her data being transmitted and reported on the my air app.
folks in this other group are claiming their machines transmit via "wifi" and their home's wifi networks.
is there a version of the airsense 10 sold that has a wifi built in to connect to the internet via a home wifi router network?
am i completely ignorant of this. to my knowledge, resmed only uses 2g cellular connections in their machines to transmit data.
just curious if anyone here knows.

Would be news to me.crestifer wrote:is there a version of the airsense 10 sold that has a wifi built in to connect to the internet via a home wifi router network?
It's all cellular. It would still transmit via cellular if a person didn't even own a computer or have wifi router.

Re: resmed airsense 10 "wifi" ???
The machine does not use WI-FI and ResMed doesn't sell a machine that uses WI-FI. It uses a cellular modem and the cellular network to transmit date. She might just be in an area with poor cellular network coverage.

Re: resmed airsense 10 "wifi" ???
indeed. my assumption is that their cellular service is not very strong.
i've just got a few people trying to convince me that they do indeed connect to their DME via the internet and their home wifi network.
i've just seen no reference to any resmed airsense machine having a wifi connection.
thanks for the responses.

that is certainly my understanding. i've seen literally no reference anywhere that suggests an actual WIFI connection. just cellular.
thanks.

Re: resmed airsense 10 "wifi" ???
I use Flash Air cards in our machines and use our in home wi fi to transfer data from the machines to my computer and input it into sleepyhead. It does not transmit out to my DME or doctor. My doctor does not use the ResMed system to verify usage. She has me bring in my machine and looks at my data every six months.

Home WiFi only transmits about 1,000 ft or less. There DME must live close, or they have a old ham amp. Jim

Those folks don't understand the difference between "WiFi" and all the other types of wireless... like cellular modems.crestifer wrote:trying to assist someone in another cpap group.

In other words, they're wrong and should be ignored.

indeed, my efforts to attempt to clarify and define each in effort to help the original person, failed miserably.
apparently most people use "blutooth" and "wifi" for transferring their data through the "internets" to their dme.
f!@$ me.
i just thought perhaps i was ignorant of a resmed machine option for wifi. i'd just never heard of such. clearly there is a reason i'd not. there isn't one.
i need to learn when to give up. i should have known when someone told me their iphone doesn't use cellular for their phone calls, only their wifi.
oh well. i need to hang out on this board more often.

Ask 'em what process they used to input their wifi key onto their air10... and then "surely you're not using unsecured wifi, if so, what's your address?"crestifer wrote:palerider wrote: Those folks don't understand the difference between "WiFi" and all the other types of wireless... like cellular modems.

haha. been there. done that. my teeth started hurting when they started telling me that it just magically connected automatically. "didn't even have to put a password in"

Re: resmed airsense 10 "wifi" ???
It is a ridiculous set up using cellular Wi-Fi to connect to send data. There is way more chance of having no cellular coverage than having no Wi-Fi coverage. I just received my airsense 10 and I am considering returning it for just that reason. My medical practitioner does not receive my data but I still would like to see it In my computer for myself. Glad I found this forum as I would like to follow up on the idea of a flash card. No idea what that is but I am sure Google will assist.

I use the Toshiba FlashAir (W-04) to conveniently transfer my data from my Resmed Airsense 10 to Sleepyhead.Andyrauc wrote: ↑Sun Oct 28, 2018 6:47 amIt is a ridiculous set up using cellular Wi-Fi to connect to send data. To transfer the data your router (or computer depending on connection mode) needs to be fairly close. Mines about 30 feet, and use a third party utility. (FlashPAP or SleepMaster)
