Amara View users?

Post by MaxINTJ » Sun Oct 22, 2017 3:03 pm

I have been trying this mask for the last 2 nights but am having trouble getting it to initially seal. Once I manage to get it fitted it stays for the rest of the night, so I'm using the correct size.

Does anyone who uses this mask have any pointers to get it sealed in a reasonable amount of time?

I just started using this mask. Going from something like the P10 to this one is an adventure. I watched the video and just about everything else I could find about fitting it. I think it's just going to take time... at least that's what I tell myself. I find fitting it during the day when I'm not tired makes it easier to put on at night - more practice I guess.

I did use the Amara View for a week...my pressures were over 20 every night and I didn't have "blow outs".
There are people successfully using the Amara View who are using pressures in the upper teens and lower 20s all night long not having "blow outs".
All masks present additional challenges at higher pressures and for some people more than others for any number of reasons but just because you had a problem with a mask doesn't mean that every other person in the whole world will have the same problem.

All these masks come with huge YMMV stickers. One man's treasure another man's trash.

I tried it, and while I could get it to seal with some work, it would not stay that way for long. I am now using a F&P Brevida nasal pillow,....but that's another story!

My pressure goes to 25 every night and I don't have blow outs - once it's put on correctly.

None of the sizes sm. med or lg fit right. Most likely the reason for all the leaking.

I wish I had something positive to say about that mask. I could never get it fitted right. I had "experts" fit it to me 4 times and I tried to adjust it myself about 3 times. I could never get it to seal properly. It was not the mask for me.

Well that's not good news.

I tried a true FFM and those aren't ever going to work. I prefer my Dreamwear, but with my pressures going to 25, I have been unable to stop my mouth blowing open. The mask itself doesn't leak - I tried it with mask fit and it's fine at high pressure.

IF I get the View on properly it will take the pressure, but it's nowhere near as comfortable as the Dreamwear.

I still don't understand why every single mask (other than the Dreamwear) mounts the hose at the front! People generally sleep on their sides, back or FRONT - what's wrong with them all mounting the hose at the top like the Dreamwear? Who sleeps standing on their head?

I mentioned this recently in another post so, I apologize for its redundancy.
I leave 1 bottom strap unhooked then angle the bottom part of the cushion away from my mouth and toward my nose.I put my nose in first then angle down to mouth then clip in.
Seems to make a better initial seal. My pressure seldom goes above 13 so you have a bigger problem then I, and I still have to adjust the straps a couple of times a week due to leakage.
Good Luck...Dave

Well, I tried. After using the Airfit P10 I suppose any mask, especially a FFM, is going to be close to impossible to get used to. I can't find anything right about it... I guess because it isn't the P10. Oh well... now to trial a different one. The endless search for the right/most comfortable mask continues.

I wash my face with a more harsh soap that will your face totally free from oils. Do the same with the mask every night.
If the leaks are loud consider ear plugs. If there's hitting your eyes consider an eye mask

Can we talk a bit more about these "blowouts"? I have been using an Amara View mask for about 2 months now. Previously, I have used a nasal mask and a full face. Those were terrible for me. The View has been the most comfortable for me and I get high scores on myair. Every once in awhile, I am awakened by a high volume of air blowing. Enough that it wakes me up. And it will not stop. I have tried stopping it. I have tried shutting it off. The last time it did it, I pulled the plu on it and it stopped. This is the 2nd Air Sense 10 machine I have had since I started treatment. The people at ResMed told me to return the first. So the question comes up. "How could 2 machines be defective?" Last night, it worked like a champ. Tonight? We'll see.

It sometimes happens. I had two fail in the first seven months. The first machine would not transmit data, and the second machine totally died while I was out of town. I had to go two nights without the machine. At that time, I had not purchased a back up machine. I have one, now.
