I have a Respironics system one bipap with approx 11,000 hrs. It still seems to work fine. I did have it serviced once due to a none functional heat plate.
My problem now is that I've been waking up with a very sore throat and the air being delivered seems so warm, almost hot, even though there's plenty of water in the humidifier tank. Some nights I have to turn the humidifier setting from 3 or 4 to either 0 or 1 . This is so frustrating. In addition, some nights it seems fine but most nights it's so uncomfortable that I wake up and have to quickly take it off and suffer the rest of the night. Any suggestions or ideas what might be the problem?

Re: Too much hot air
Did this problem start happening "Right after" it was serviced?
Are you using a Heated hose? - If so have you tried turning the temp down on that? I looked at a pic of a System One BiPAP and it doesn't look like it uses a heated hose but just thought I'd ask in case you were using aftermarket or if it's a newer model.
Is the air temp in your bedroom warmer then before?
How long has this been a problem?
Also you mentioned some nights it seams fine... Does it seam more random or is there anything else going on that corresponds with your good nights or bad nights?
Need lots more info if you can help provide it.

Re: Too much hot air
No heated hose. It did seem fine after I had it serviced. The problem has bee going on for roughly 8 months. I did call the service center and discussed the issue with the technician who services the unit. He did explain how the humidifier hot plate functioned and that the control simply energizes the plate at specific time intervals . There's no way to measure the frequency and duration of the current sent to the hot plate. The test apparatus is either pass or fail. So when it was fixed and then checked, all parameters passed.
Regarding the room temp, it was comfortable about 67. Unfortunately this problem might be intermittent because sometimes its fine (half tank of water is used) and other times when it's hot, only 1/4 tank if that is used.
Tonight, I'm using a ne w tank and new hose.

Why post the same post twice? If you need to add something you can edit your first post, is something AMISS here. Jimcapon wrote:I have a Respironics system one bipap with approx 11,000 hrs. It still seems to work fine. I did have it serviced once due to a none functional heat plate.

Re: Too much hot air
I'm not understanding the second part of what you said... Your saying that when you notice this heat problem. That "LESS" water is used rather then more?
If I take a pot and fill it with say 2 cups of water. I then take that pot and set my stove to medium. After 15 min of time I measure the amount of water left.
If I then let every thing cool down and take the same pot. Empty it and refill it with 2 cups of water. Only this time I set my stove to HIGH. I'm going to have less water left not more.
Though if your having some other sort of electrical issue that is generating heat in the air it self that could explain what you said. For example if less power is going to the hot plate to heat up the water but instead that power is going somewhere else causing the temp of the air to rise instead of the water.
Did the tech offer to lone you a different unit to try to see if the problem resolved?
If you have an intermitent issue of that nature I would want to change out my machine.
How often are your bad nights happening? Is it predictable enough that if you were to trial a different machine you could tell right away?

Re: Too much hot air
Sorry for the confusion in my writing. I used a new water tank and tubing last night. I woke up feeling fine this morning. No hot air and consumed about a half tank of water. The blower in my unit seems to make noise as it's not as quiet as it was when new.
You may have helped determine a possible cause for the warm air. Could it be the blower faili g and heating the air?

Don't know about blower failure causing hot air, but 11,000 hours getting on up there. You may want to look into another machine and use the old one for a backup. My old machine has I think 10,000 hours, I found a good used one on CL that had 900 on it, paid 200.00 for it. Good luck...
