Elite s8 smart card
Elite s8 smart card
Can anyone help me with the following:
I have an elite s8cpap machine. Is the efficacy data shown it's menu the same data that you would get by reading the smart card with a reader hooked up to your PC? Does the card show more detailed info ? Also, would you need additional software? Cpap.com has a resmed resscan card reader w/ a usb cable that seems reasonable - does anyone use it or know how it works? I've been doing research online but can't figure it out.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Yes the Elite does provide detailed nightly data via the data card.
You can purchase a USB datacard reader (not all that expensive) from cpap.com
AFAIK, you will need Autoscan 5.7 software that works with the S8 range.
These links show 2 days taken from an S7 Autoset Spirit I trialled last year
Please note though that the Elite is not an Auto & so doesn't show the varying pressure that these charts do. I have some S7 Elite charts, just need to find them.
1. Screen 1 with summary data.

Thanks.
Do you have any idea where I can get the software? Cpap.com says that it's unavailable.

Hi,
As a follow-up I just phoned a local (here in Sydney Australia) on-line Resmed reseller and asked if they sold AutoScan 5.7 - yes
Official Resmed Price $115 AUD including GST (Resmed tell him that although the cpap units don't attarct tax the AutoScan 5.7 does).
So it seems that there is some inconsistency in what we are hearing from people posting here re availability of AutoScan and the reality.
Cheers

As of 10/01/06 when Resmed's new policy took effect, it can no longer be sold to patients.Archoliva wrote:Thanks.

So if you bought your machine with that intention, bummer.
Snoredog,
Once again the anti Resmed Autoscan fiction doesn't match the facts as I have investigated them.
I can buy a copy. Anyone who contacts this same supplier (on online reseller based in Australia) I spoke to can buy a copy. He was the 1st one I contacted. He said there was no instructions that he has from Resmed to stop selling it & quoted me $115AUD for 5.7 from Resmed's current price book.
Can you produce some factual evidence to back up your suspect public remarks. Else can I kindly suggest you stop posting about AutScan, as it brings the worst out in you.
Cheers

PS I also have a fix for the clacking floppy drive 'problem'. It seems the AutoScan software PRIOR TO 5.7 went looking for the datacard / floppy attachment on any attached Reslink modules - Resmed put out a fix to stop this for those people who don't have Reslink modules & don't want the clacking. This same dealer told me of this problem & is sending me the fix & it is free to distribute - So yet again Snoredog your attacks on how bad AutoScan is, because it 'clacks' the floppy, are also a baseless fiction based on a lack of understanding plus your one-eyed desire to keep attacking AutoScan rather than help people fix their issues. You have lost all objectivity in this area.

If you can't, This reseller has offered to suppy (and his price is very good)
I asked him if I could post his website name here but he has asked me to hold off. But I can PM you with his website id should you need it - it may turn out that his price is far better than you can find there - I saw someone had a copy of AutoScan on either eBay or Yahoo for $US 148.
I am happy to help however I can.
Cheers

Please do post back as there are other requests for access to the software.Archoliva wrote:Thanks DSM
It's a new day here in NY & I'll start my online search for a reseller - I'll let you know if I find one.
I have asked those PMers to wait to see if we can locate a US supplier 1st. If not I will forward the contact & website details for the Aussie supplier.
Cheers

(at worst I am happy to purchase & forward over but that may not be at all neccesary)

I am not SnoreDog, but I can supply the source of his remarks. He is referring to the new Resmed internet pricing policy:dsm wrote:Snoredog,

Thanks to SnoreDog for passing along the correct information. He's right, it is a bummer.johnnygoodman wrote:Resmed Policies Will Soon Affect CPAP Internet Buyers and Providers
We are compelled to inform you that effective October 1st, Resmed will impose new dealer limitations which will have a profound affect on all those who may be interested in buying Resmed products online. Here are the main points:
1. Resmed has chosen to grant only certain Internet CPAP providers permission to sell their products over the Internet. All other existing Internet providers will no longer be able to buy Resmed products.
2. Resmed is imposing price controls on all of their masks, humidifiers and machines sold over the Internet. This results in price increases for the consumer of 40% to 45% on average and in some cases much more. These price increases do not effect traditional "Brick and Mortar" CPAP providers.
3. Resmed will no longer allow the sale of their software products over the Internet.
To Roberto,
Per your PM I sent the fix to your email adr but it has been rejected.
Also - can't find the PM now ?
Pls PM again if still needing the fix.
Cheers
