Full face mask for narrow face?

Post by Rumbert » Fri Oct 06, 2017 4:25 pm

Can anybody recommend a full face mask that might fit somebody with an extremely narrow skinny face? Not just a narrow nose, but a narrow face.
I have two sleep disorders: UARS and Non-24. Until recently I got considerable relief from UARS with humidified CPAP (I tried APAP but found no advantage), a Swift FX nasal pillow mask, and Micropore tape over my mouth. Nothing has helped my Non-24.

Here is where a database of mask proportions would come in handy.
I have long believed that 3-d files of masks could be digitally compared to 3-d files of faces.
Of course, multiple brands would need to be covered, or any such tool would be useless.
This would require money--but that is held by ALL THE WRONG PEOPLE.

You might look at the Amara View. Nothing over the nose so at least that nose part of the problem is prevented.
The less area touching the skin means less area to have to deal with the sealing.

I called cpap.com today and asked this same question. The woman who took my call seemed to have a lot of experience fitting masks, and she recommended five masks for narrow faces. I'll list them here in case anybody else with this same problem reads this thread in the future:

Simplus Full Face
AirFit F10
Mirage Quattro Full Face
Quattro Air
Amara Full Face

Those five masks on cpap.com

My apologies to the moderator if I'm breaking the rules by linking to a commercial site.

Actually cpap.com owners pay the bills for this forum so they won't mind at all if we link to their website for cpap stuff.

Sorry, can't help with any comments about those 5 masks. I don't like anything across the bridge of my nose and that's why the only full face mask I was ever even able to sleep with was the Amara View.
I have zero experience with those others.

.

didn't know that.

i can honestly say that cpap.com have been an absolute pleasure to deal with. i've purchased quite a few things from them. they have always had good prices and quick shipping and have helped me with a few issues. also, they offer insurance on many mask purchases which allowed me to find a few masks that worked well for me. my original dme basically said "you can have this nasal or this full face" and that was it.

back to the OP...i would recommend the amara view as well. it covers your mouth and sits under your nostrils, just sort of up over the tip of your nose.

good luck.

I have the Simplus FFM and am a big fan.

I cannot tolerate any pressure on the bridge of my nose. The design of the Simplus cushion makes it so that I don't even feel it on the upper part, only down low. Even though it looks like there is a plastic frame that sits against your forehead, it doesn't actually come in contact.
