RESMED S8 EliteII noise

Post by vettman » Thu Oct 05, 2017 7:43 am

My 4.5 year-old S8 Elite II (6500 hrs of use) has developed some annoying hi-pitched screeching noises, and although low volume, they do prevent me from falling asleep. I also get a distinct chirp each time I inhale. The noise is not continuous, but never goes away. It appears to be an air movement noise as opposed to a motor noise. I've used the humidifier holder from an earlier S8 and the noise remains. I've verified that it is not a mask/hose-related noise. I've been forced to re-use my original S8 which has 7 yrs., and over 25,000 hours of service on it. It's still very quite.

If anyone has experienced a similar issue with their S8, I'd like to hear from you, especially if you have a recommended solution.

Thanks

It's most likely something that needs professional repair. Your S8 could be replaced with an (also discontinued)S9...They are a great machine and often available, slightly used, for $250-$300. Your 4.5 year old machine only has slightly more than 2 years use?

It has 4.5 years of service; I've been using it since June 2013.

I was thinking the same thing, worn out by lack of use. Jim
