Is it ok to use my own webserver for images instead of Imgur

I see most folks use Imgur for sharing their results. I personally do not like using image hosting services like that since I want complete control of my images at all times. Been burned by photobucket in the past. I run an E-commerce business and manage and build my own websites. Is there any reason I can not host my own images on my own webserver and post the links here?

imgur lets us enlarge the images which is real useful

is it really worth it to build your own site though?
will you ever need the images again?
couldnt you redo them from teh SH files saved from your xpap SD card

block out personal data when you post on imgur
it will be there long enough for folks here to help you analyse the data

I already have a website and a private server to run it that I have full control over. All I would need to do is FTP the files to my server and provide the links. I know it will work as I do that with other photos and other forums. Just not sure if the rules allow here.

I also run my own business and built (and manage) my own website. I have used Imgur, but I've also hosted an image or two on my webserver before, and it worked fine. But I went back to Imgur for the reason mentioned by PR
