On my way!
With being unemployed and having a very high deductible, I was out of pocket for a home study and was looking at spending over $2000 for an overnight study (doctors fees + sudy)
I decided to buy a machine online and ended with the Resmed Airsense A10. I am using a nice nasal pillow mask.
My seetings are ramping from 4 to 5 and a high of 12. So far, so good! I just bought an SD card last night and have download the software. I'll be reporting in for the knowledge of folks on this board
One question: I can hardly notice the pressure at 5 yet, when I move the nasal pillow to the side and allow air to leak out, I'm surprised at how much pressure is flowing. Quite the whooshing sound. Is this normal?

It's also not really blowing at hurricane forces winds all night...what you feel when not sealed is the machine trying to reach a point where pressure is maintained and it can't when the mask isn't sealed against your nose/face/whatever.
One of the forum members explain it in an easy to understand explanation but I don't have it handy at the moment.
I will see if can find it.

Re: On my way!
Pressure does not flow - air flows. Pressure is the result of the machine flowing air at a faster rate then it can escape. The mask's vent rate is low so air flow is low and pressure is maintained. When the leak rate is bigger, the machine flows more air trying to maintain the pressure. When the leak rate is too large, the machine flow rate is maxed out and it is unable to flow enough air to create pressure.itsjustme8 wrote:With being unemployed and having a very high deductible, I was out of pocket for a home study and was looking at spending over $2000 for an overnight study (doctors fees + sudy)

Re: On my way!
I know what you mean. Sometimes I have to feel the vent in order to feel the flow/pressure.

pressure is what makes the air flow
no pressure no flow
do'H!
Pressure does not cause flow. Flow is a result of a pressure differential. If your mask did not have a vent (a path to lower pressure - atmospheric pressure), you would have pressure but there would be no flow of air.
Pressure is needed to keep the windpipe open. Air flow is need to bring in fresh air.

Wrong there is no pressure until the flow is restricted! Jimxxyzx wrote:backwards as usualTedVPAP wrote:Pressure does not flow - air flows. In that case, bring on the Bacon. Even BBQ, Pork Chops. Sorry I didn't get any breakfast. Jimchunkyfrog wrote:Can we just agree that it works?

Chicken and waffles--my way!
Chicken and veggies in gravy--especially MUSHROOMS!
Like a pot pie, only with a yummy waffle instead of that nasty, lardy crust.

Re: On my way!
I also like Marie's. A pot pie needs to have a bottom. Marie's has a good thick crust. Guess what I'll be eating tonight?

Oh dear lord can we not go this way. I love Pot pies, and they absolutely must have a top, sides, and bottom of the buttery flaky crust. Waffles and gravy are good too. Oh, can you feel your arteries hardening? I can feel mine. So mean to bring this up so early in the AM for us westerners.

Marie Callender's pot pies are very good, but Boston Market!
Now that's tasty.
