Air Sense10 or Air Sense for Her??

Post by Luthie2006 » Thu Sep 21, 2017 1:14 pm

My boyfriend is buying me a "slightly" used Air Sense 10 from DME. They asked if I wanted an Air Sense 10 or an Air Sense for HER? They have no clue which is best for me. My pressure on the S-9 is set at 11, and it goes up to 13. Does anyone have any recommendations which machine is better? Thank you

I just happened to run across this in the Airsense 10 clinical manual:

AutoSet for Her mode

AutoSet for Her mode is based on key aspects of ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm and delivers therapeutic responses tailored to the characteristics of female OSA patients.

The AutoSet for Her is similar to ResMed’s AutoSet algorithm with the following modifications:
Reduced rate of pressure increments designed to help prevent arousals.
Slower pressure decays.
Treats apneas up to 12 cm H2O and continues to respond to flow limitation and snore up to 20 cm H2O.
Minimum pressure (Min. Pressure) that adjusts according to the frequency of apneas: If two apneas occur within a minute, the pressure reached in response to the second apnea will become the new minimum treatment pressure until the next treatment session.

Patients who use AutoSet for Her will still get the benefits of ResMed's AutoSet technology including improved sensitivity to flow-limitation and Central Sleep Apnoea Detection with Forced Oscillation Technique.

They are both very good. The for-her has one bit of extra functionality. If you don't use this extra functionality, it is identical (except for color) to the "for-anyone".

If it were me and the two machines were the same price and in similar condition, I would get the for-her. It's unlikely that I would ever use the extra functionality, but it is there for bragging rights.

Get the AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her...you might like that for Her mode. I got one maybe a month or so ago and I used regular mode for 3 days then wanted to try the for Her mode and I kinda like it. Still using that mode and doing very well.
It is like 3 machines in one
3 modes
CPAP
Regular standard APAP (auto)
and the new For Her APAP mode.

If you demand a "for her" model, there is no way they can sneak a brick on you.
The "for her" is ONLY a full data auto-titrating model.
The Airsense 10 comes in several models--only the Autoset and the Autoset for Her can run with a range of pressures.
Avoid the "CPAP" at all costs.

Hello chunky frog: Sorry to sound uninformed, but what is the "brick" of CPAP on the Air Sense 10? The DME where I am buying a slightly used AirSense 10 for $650 said that they cannot find a "For Her" model. They have until Oct 7th to find one. Should it be AirSense Auto Pap? If they only can get me the Air Sense (not for her) which is the one that I should demand? Come to think of it, they tried to pull "one over on me a few years ago." If you can let me know which one on the Air Sense I should get if they don't have a For Her model? Thank you?

If you don't get the "for her" model, insist on the Air Sense autostart. A "brick" is a machine that does not have full data available for review. Some machines only report hours used and others will only report total AH I with distinction of the type of events. You want a machine with full data capability.

No, it's AirSense 10 AutoSet CPAP Machine with HumidAir Heated Humidifier.

It needs to say on the machine itself - AirSense 10 AutoSet.

You have to be careful because there are a lot of machines with similar names -
AirCurve 10 ASV
AirCurve 10 S
AirCurve 10 ST
AirCurve 10 V Auto
AirSense 10 AutoSet
AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her
AirSense 10 CPAP
AirSense 10 Elite
AirStart 10 AutoSet
AirStart 10 CPAP

If it is truly an AirSense 10 AutoSet, that's not a bad price for a machine with local service.

You're right. Auto correct got me and I didn't catch. The autostart is a total brick.

AutoCorrect turned your AutoSense into AutoStart.

Correction: "auto-IN-correct", source of an endless stream of hilarious/disastrous typos.

There's no such thing as an "autostart".

I had to teach my phone to curse. :sigh:

Another friend of mine said this:

"my autocorrect now corrects benign words to curse words. "

I am so confused. How will I know if the are "doing a bait/switch" which they did before to me in 2014 with the s-9.

How can I tell if the machine is an Air Sense Auto Set? If it is in black (not the For Her). Will the Air Sense 10 say "AutoStart" on it?
This DME did try to pull the wool over me before. They told me that they have "many" on their shelf that patients did not want or Medicare could not pay for.

Any way I can look at the Air Sense 10 and be able to tell if it is an Auto Set?? And are you ready for this one? I know this will get "everyone's goat." They want to take my credit card over the phone first before the therapist brings it out to this sleep lab office on October 7th. How do I know what the heck he is bringing out once I charge it on the phone?

So the best for me is Air Sense 10 For Her and second one which I have a feeling they won't have: Is Air Sense 10 Auto Set? How will I know if it is an Autoset? Does it say it on the front of the machine? Thank you. I may be best off just getting a script from doctor and buying one off line? Thank you.
