Anyone here work nights??
HI,
I was wondering if anyone on the form on cpap works the night shift.
I just started my job and seem to get so tired no matter how much I sleep in the day with my cpap.
Any ideas, suggestions?/
A sense of humor can help you overlook the unattractive, tolerate the unpleasant, cope with the unexpected, and smile through the unbearable
Hi swtsassy65,
Yes, some of us do work nights, like me. Been doing it for 28 years (rotating 12 hour shift). I've been on CPAP for 2 years and still fight sleep sometimes at work. It's just the nature of our bodies.
A few years ago I did a seminar on the effects of shift work on your body. That's a whole other story in itself. Bottom line - trick your body into thinking it's night time when you're trying to sleep during the day. Make your bedroom as dark as possible. I use tin foil on the windows to block ALL the light. I don't care if it ruins our bedroom decor. Also try sleeping with ear plugs or a white noise machine to drown out outside noises that may keep you awake. Stop drinking caffine a few hours prior to sleeping (no brainer).
Our bodies are designed to sleep at night and be awake during the day. It's called Carcadian Rythyms. When you reverse the force of nature, it becomes a struggle. Some people can tollerate it and some can't.
I have coped with shift work for all these years but the last couple have been really bad. I think the older you get the harder it is to work the night shift. I'm retiring in two years and looking forward to starting to live and sleep a normal life.
Good luck.
