Those that have the best success are those that have gotten past the crap idea that "only the doctor or DME can adjust the machine".
Excellent point!! I second that, as I felt the biggest improvement after I took control of adjusting my own settings.

I was lucky, my doctor reached into his top hat and pulled out the almost correct number just missed it by 1 cm low, he also set me up with a full data machine, and I was smart enough to figure out with congestion I need a FF mask. I also knew up front if I couldn't make XPAP work, I was dead, sooner than later. So I didn't let the CAN'T cobwebs take over, never have never will. Chest hurt like hell, after being slit open, it did not like 14 cm, but I slept with it all night every nite, in 3 weeks the pain was gone and the chest was healing. From then on it gets better. Jim

I may not be happy with the fact that I have to use it, but I am very happy with the fact that it has done wonders for my day to day living. Been at this for over seven years and I am very happy that I was finally diagnosed with something that gives me the energy to keep up with my great grandkids.
Keep at it you may have some struggles along the way, but will be the winner in the end.
Good luck

I'm happy with it. The inconvenience is minor and the results have been dramatic. I've been using CPAP for eight years now with only the rarest lapses. I even managed to find a wife during that time -- something I might not have had the energy for otherwise. I used to have a terrible time staying awake behind the wheel and had a tendency to nod off at my desk after lunch, a problem easily misinterpreted by one's coworkers. I know it takes time and effort to get everything dialed in: pressure, ramp, mask, humidity (if any), and so on. But it is totally worth it.

I've been using my PAP for about 6 months and I'm happy. I found a very comfortable and effective mask quickly, and adjusted very well. I sleep better. I don't get up to pee multiple times a night. I wake up more easily in the morning. I don't get super sleepy mid-afternoon.

Is everything bunnies and unicorns? Of course not. I sometimes get a little rub on the tip of my nose that I have to put lanolin on, and then I get a zit. When I do have to get up to pee, I have to wrangle the mask for a few seconds rather than just crash back to sleep. My idiot cats have bitten holes in the tubing (which I've repaired), so I'm paranoid about having cats near my head overnight (and I love having cats sleep on my head!)

But all in all, the benefits outweigh the annoyances, and it's becoming the new normal.
I'm a newbie. If I do something stupid, just let me know and I'll try to fix it.

Been on this since 2004. When I get to yawning and my eyes feel sleepy, I look forward to strapping on my trusty headgear and off I go into dreamland, hopefully, I pray.

Hi ZzzCatcher. the new normal How true.

I learned I didn't have to take my mask off in the middle of the night. Just unhook the short hose from the long hose, then reconnect them. My cats got too close when I was wearing my first mask, which blasted out a stream of cool air. Once was enough, and now they give it a respectful distance.

I missed a few nights during Hurry Cane Harvey. It made me realize how happy I am with my treatment. At times, I think of the 2+ weeks I fought getting used to the mask, but it was well worth it.

Exactly correct. I had a horrible time with a full face mask. Pugsy to the rescue! Recommended (and kindly sent me) a nasal pillow. Completely solved the problem. Had some other issues that made my experience uncomfortable. Pugsy (and others) to the rescue! Changed settings myself and no further problems, smooth sailing.

Well to be honest I agree with Goofproof. My cpap is not really making me happy !

Every day is a bad hair day
Day dreams have changed to nightmares specially when power failure is hitting hoseland
Aerophagia is not yet under control ...

Amazing however is that I hardly get a flue since I started cpap
