When I have forgotten to log in, it will post as Guest, but says I've also posted under ughwhatname. I think it looks at IP address.

The only names that matter in terms of actually knowing the posts are consistently from the same person are when we are logged in.

The rest of the names and the "also post as" names...no way to verify.

I could post without logging in and make up any name that I wanted to...and I think I could probably impersonate someone...and with the forum software doing the also posted as...probably it would pick Pugsy and a dozen others. No way to verify.
Some one could do a guest posting and use pugsy...but it wouldn't be me.
Know one but me can log in as me though.

What's the point anyway? Each one of those people will tell you straight from their logged in ID what they think of you. Why go to the trouble to hide behind another made up name?

This was me..the real Pugsy who posted this below. Just wanted to show people how easy it is to use someone else's ID if they want to pretend to be someone they aren't. So when someone posts under any name...be it guest or guest 2 or best guess or xxyzx or whatever and whomever...if they aren't logged in there is zero control and zero way to verify or know that the person we are talking to is the same person we might have talked to yesterday.
It also shows just how inaccurate the also posted as list might be. Yeah, it had me listed as Pugsy...but so have a lot of other posts that I didn't make.
Plus it had many other people in the list.

A long time ago this would have just shown Pugsy in the also posted as...but not anymore. It's a worthless feature now, totally inaccurate, and needs to be turned off or whatever they could do to remove it.

You are wrong about that...they don't need to invent people to poke at you to make it appear that like more people....there's a long list waiting in line to do just that. You are bringing that all on yourself.
Trust me...they have better things to do then make their sole purpose in life to be a thorn in your side..
Now some of the multitude of guest postings with just "guest"...now that might be one person doing many different guests. We have already proven that anyone can say anything and be anyone if they don't log in.

As for getting banned for being ugly and poking someone.....you are still here....so it must take something really bad to get banned and poking you isn't going to be reason enough. Sorry but you aren't that important.
