Settings Question: Switching From S-9 to Bipap AUTO SV

Post by DavidCarolina » Thu Aug 24, 2017 4:33 pm

Im experimenting with going from a standard VPAP S9, to the AUTO SV. The SV is obviously older but low hours.

Q1 Do the settings basically correlate from s9 16/12 to SV 16/ epap 12(low) epap 12 (high)?

Q2 Does the machine switch in clinician menu to straight BIPAP vs. APAP or not? Or does it just always run bipap?

Q3. The other settings? Such as BP i figured out is breaths per minute (which i set at 15)
And the recommendations for "average" of other settings?

Q4 The "flex" setting is purely comfort, the 3 giving most exhalation relief?

My apnea is pretty severe and happens on EXHALE.

Which model Respironics machine do you have? You say it is older but how much older? Does it have a model number?

The newer ASV machines from Respironics can be set so that it pretty much functions like a regular bipap with a little bit of tweaking of the settings.

Once you figure out exactly which model it is go to the apneaboard and request the clinical manual.
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

PS is Pressure support which is the difference between inhale and exhale. With a minimum and maximum that difference can vary depending on the parameters that have been set.

Yes, Flex setting of 3 will give the most amount of exhale relief but it not going to be a full 3 cm relief. The actual amount is flow based so it depends on how forcefully you breathe.

Looks like this one? This is the user manual...not the clinical manual.
https://www.sleeprestfully.com/prodimag ... Manual.pdf

If so that model is what we call the Legacy series.
Go here and request the clinical/provider manual via email.
http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual

Follow the instructions for how to request manuals and request this
(just copy and paste what I have here)
Respironics BiPAP AutoSV

In the manual you will find explanations for the terminology you are wondering what they are.

Thanks pugsy

Actually I have been through the clinicians menu back and forth

Can't find any clue how to set on straight bipap, or what those options are that make it operate like one such as apnea, min etc

I'm just trying to hobble on until sleeptest

I am not familiar with that older model. So I don't know what all your setting options are.

PS is pressure support or the difference between EPAP and IPAP.
I don't know if it will let you set minimum to equal maximum or not.

If you want to just use the machine like a fixed bipap machine you have to limit the machine in terms of PS and EPAP and max IPAP.

Example...
EPAP 8
PS 4 min and max
Max IPAP 12
will make the machine work like a fixed bilevel machine.

There's not special "bilevel" mode for regular bilevel...you have to dumb the machine down and limit where it can go and then it works like a regular bilevel.

Have you seen this
