Hypoxia, hupercapnia, increades respiration rate, denial ... I knew about the first three effects...

As I have said before, my nostrils are not stuck in the pillows - there is always a channel open to fresh air - sheesh people! In fact, if the damn mask would vent the same way nostrils vent, there wouldn't be a need to turn my head!

I do, however, sleep mostly face down on feather pillows.
