I feel more tired after using my CPAP.

Post by TexasJohnnyBravo » Tue Aug 15, 2017 9:08 pm

First off let me start by this. Yes I have the Resmed Airsense 10 CPAP. So if your are going to criticize the machine I'm using move along. I asked a question in another thread and it got hijacked by people that would rather talk shit than answer a question for me.

Now for my question,
I've been using my CPAP regularly for the last several months, I believe I have only missed a handful of days due to traveling and such. I don't wake up in the middle of the night and remove the mask due to comfort issues. I can sleep all night with it on. I use the mask that just covers the nose and have zero problems with leaking. My AHI are usually 0.4-0.8. ive manually adjusted the humidity so that i don't wake up with water running up my nose. I sleep on average about 7-8 hours a night but I am now more tired than ever. What do you think the issue is?

I think you should see your doctor - it's hard to diagnose anyone long distance with no med history we know of, without our being doctors, and without your being very nice to people whom you're asking for help. There are a 1,000 things that could be wrong with you (apart from the obvious) that have nothing to do with OSA or Cpap, including depression or other psychological issues.

I thought you had no issues with your therapy

I have no issue with my therapy, I don't snore when I use my CPAP, my SPO2 levels are steadily in the high 90s. My AHI is well within acceptable levels so im good with the machine I have
Do you take any medications of any kind?

Still doing the night shift?

You say 7 to 8 hours a night...do you have very many wake ups during those hours? If so, how many?

How are your leak numbers?

Maybe try to use your machine without the humidifier. I am actually getting better results without it.

CPAP could make some of the symptoms worse in some cases, or if not adjusted properly. For instance, a pressure too high could wake you up, make the mask uncomfortable etc.

I'm a newbie too (and I understand your comments about folks on this forum getting very technical with their answers). I have been using CPAC for a few months longer than you--I felt immediately better after the first few nights and then seemed to sort of plateau out for a few months. Was still getting tired in the afternoons. I have to tell you that after almot 5 months, I feel like I'm finally starting to feel better and have more energy. I just think it takes a while for the body to recuperate and settle in to this new way of sleeping. Hang in there - I really think you will feel better.
