Tried nasal mask, back to nasal pillows

Post by KTinTexas » Wed Jul 05, 2017 8:28 pm

In my continuing quest for something to help me keep the mask on longer, I switched from nasal pillow masks to a nasal mask, Airfit N20. I actually kind of liked the nasal mask because I just put it on and didn't have to get the pillows situated just so in my nose. The first couple of nights went well but over time I was wearing it shorter and shorter times. There were so many straps around my head and then there were the magnets on the side and they were always getting messed up. I was finding the mask off in the morning and not remembering taking it off at all. I decided to go back to my Swift FX and now I'm wearing it 5.5 to 5.7 hours a night which is good for me. It's easier to put back on when I get up to go to the bathroom and maybe that helps. My AHIs are still around 7 though and I don't think that is so good but at least I'm wearing the mask longer.

I've tried several masks and the Philips Dreamwear is my favorite. It has the comfort of pillows without actually having pillows.

Since you wear the Swift FX already then I'd recommend trying the Nano, which I believe is compatible with your headgear. I tried the N20 too and didn't find it as comfortable.

I actually tried the Dreamwear early on and really liked it but was still taking it off at night. I'm thinking of getting it again when I send back the AirFit N20. My Swift FX is the one I got from the DME and I bought an extra mask with return insurance and have been using the return insurance to try different masks.
