Do you clean water chamber daily or just top off?

Post by Doublev » Sat Jul 01, 2017 2:25 am

I started emptying my water chamber each morning, rinsing (with non-DI water) and then having to towel dry since the rinse wate is not distilled... but am I wasting time? Clean or just top off the chamber each night?

Don't towel dry - you're introducing micro (and sometimes not-so-micro) problems - towel fibers etc. Most top off - why empty good water that's in a sealed tank? But certainly feel free to clean the tank - a bit of vinegar in water e.g. monthly - unless you see a little pinkish stuff, in which case do clean (and rinse after) then.

If you are using distilled water, just top off. I have cleaned mine about 6 times in the 3 years I have been using it. Occasionally , when it is almost empty, I dump, rinse with tap water and refill with distilled. Still looks like new.

I just top ours off every night, and wash them out once a month whether they need it or not.

I was sent home with a cleaning schedule. One a week I clean mask, washable filters, humidification chamber, and hose, either with mild dish soap, or that plus vinegar. I let them air dry.

I notice the difference if I try to drag it out longer.

between weekly cleans I just top up the distilled water.

Personally, I dump the water every morning and blow-dry the tank (by running it for about 30 minutes). If you eat breakfast, shower/bathe, and/or get dressed, you should have enough time to do that before leaving the house.

Of course, this means I don't use the auto-off feature.

I clean about once per month with 50% vinegar.

I use tap water (well water and a softener). Every morning I dump the water, shake the drops out, place back in machine but leave it open so it air dries.
I wash everything 1-2 months.

Using a softener (which may be necessary to clean your well water) is not good in your machine - it's full of salt (and will kill your plants if you water them with it).

I just top it off; but dump and wash if out if I see anything weird.
I empty it for travel, placing a clean dry paper towel inside to keep stray water out of the travel case.
(Cheap paper towels have the least lint.)

you're assuming facts not in evidence.

there's no reason to clean something that's not dirty, perhaps LSAT has particular clean air, and better than average distilled water.

I use filtered water and rinse every morning with tap water and wash twice a month. Because filtered water deposits minerals.

i always completely empty it then put a little clean water in it and shake it for like 30 seconds and then i empty that and then i fill with clean water.
i never wash mine with water but I plan on starting to wash it with water like once every 2 weeks. possibly more often than that.

I use "special" water in my humidifier. I fill it and when it runs down I rinse it very well prior to refilling. If I notice something amiss I will also clean it and disinfect it, but that is very rare. Usually a rinse and refill is all that is needed.
