side effects? /Rashing

Post by redring » Tue Oct 03, 2006 2:56 am

I finally got my machine and have used about 4 nights now. I was feeling a bit unstable today and ended up bawling at work. Really confused as to why. I thought I should be feeling more rested therefore more stable? Another thing is I had an red spot on my nose this morning. Just a bit sore. As the day wore on it produced white heads. I thought maybe it was irrataion from haveing the mask too tight but I realised as I went to bed tonight, It dosent directly touch my face. The liner dose though but its cushy. Could I be alergic to the rubber? I have never had an problem like this befor. I just woke up and the rash (the only thing I can think it is) has spread acros my cheeks. If I thought I felt unstable earlyer I really want to cry now. Other things I have noticed is I am verry gassey in the morning I am thinking due to an belly full of air. ( I can deal with this). I am also starting to get nasuses aroung 10:00 pm. I think I am geting exausted now around that time. I am haveing so meany side effects i think are all caused by my cpap. Anyone else have these or any ideas or .....well anything? I am feeling a bit depressed over this. My hopes were so high after the test results said the machine practly elemanated the problem. And I slept the first FULL night with it on last night. Please help me.

Reat this: Notes from an apnea conference, by Self Seeker. viewtopic/t14010/Your-Responsibility-as ... n-OSA.html

Soak you mask in warm soapy water for about 45-60 mins, and do this for every new mask you ever get - masks may have residues on them from the production process.

Talk to you RT or doctor about the rash - you have to find a way to let it heal - and sometimes using the mask again on the painful place will only make it worse.

Hang it there. It's cpap boot camp, but it will get bettter - we're all here to help.

Read this http://smart-sleep-apnea.blogspot.com/
And then read , read, and read some more - look at the big buttons above the message board, and try the videos. You'll find lots of tips, and lots of poeple who have been (or are) where you are now.

Good luck
O.

Hi redring,

Are you crying/unstable as you called it because you feel exhausted or do you feel sad?

If you are a woman are you ovulating or any of the other female times that hormones are all over the place. Still talk to a Dr.

I will make a post for Depression signs/symptoms I got from a sleep apnea handout in a different topic.

Talk to your Dr. Do you feel rested? Is there a way of getting readings from the machine. You need to find out if you are still having apnea/hyponea episodes?

Whatever you do, do not ignore it if you are feeling this bad, it may be "normal" or not, but find out.

Here is the link with what to expect at the beginning.

viewtopic/t14009/CPAP-What-to-expect-wh ... s-not.html

Do not give up, keep posting and keep looking for answers. Bother anybody you can for results.

What are your resources, Dr, sleep clinic, RT, regular clinic etc.
I can do this, I will do this.

My disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, nor have I ever worked in the health care field Just my personal opinions.

I have psoriasis. The first few nights on cpap my skin reacted terribly. After that the skin cleared up and is now better than ever. Some things just take time. I do think that if you are that upset you should call your doctor ASAP. You didn't list all the side effects you're having, perhaps you should discuss them with the MD.

Thanks ! I did not think about there being somthing on the mask still. Ill wash it today. If that dose not help ill have to call my sleep therapest. As for the unstableness. I have had it from befor the CPAP. But a lot of it was suposedly caused because I was sooo sleep and oxygen deprived my body was exausted and therefor leaveing me emotionally raw. I wonder if this unease as of yesterday and the nasua around 10:00 pm are not both side effects of my body trying to adjust. The DR said my sleep paterns are verry out of whack and it may take some time to see any improvement. I guess I dident expect to have soo meany problems. I thought the clostrophobic feeling was all I would have to deal with.

Reding, in my post about what to expect, I wrote to expect it to get worse before it gets better, becasue that is what the nurse had written on the slide. I am not sure how worse is acceptable. That is why ask your Dr or RT or who ever.

If you are still having episodes, your sleep is not helping you get better. That is why it is imortant to find out how you have slept, by checking the machine out.

I get this wave of naussa and sweating when ever my body wants to shut down and sleep. I will lay down and sleep. It comes much earlier in the day.

Definately wash the mask. But if you are sensitive it may not be enough. Or it may be because the mask is on to tight etc.

I think this CPAP interface search is an adventure in and of itself.

I can do this, I will do this.
