Purchased a REmstar Pro.......... is it a good model?

Post by flitestik » Mon Oct 02, 2006 9:50 pm

Hello: I have ust purchased a Remstar Pro it has the smart card on it but i did not get the software with it.
C flex is on it as well....... Tell me do you think this is a good machine. I have no insurance plans so have worked up to this used unit from the Remstar Solo model which at my moderate apenea prob and H2O of 10 setting is ok but I had thought this Cflex might be better. So should I have bought the Plus model? any thought appreciated.

In my opinion not much difference between the Remstar Pro (not Pro2) and the Plus model. Neither collect usable data (other than compliance which you already know because you use the machine). Therefore, there is no need to spend money on software with either of these models as the software would be worthless.

If it works for you and you are good with your pressure setting then the machine is fine. I don't think the Pro is on the market anymore (I also have a used Pro).

If you need data to adjust your pressure in lieu of a new sleep study or just to check how things are going, then you need to ge ahold of a Pro2, Auto, or one of the M series Pro or M series Auto.

Despite the fact that you don't have access to detailed data, I think you'll be happy with the Remstar Pro. My DME had me on one for the first few weeks of treatment. If you didn't previously have C-Flex, then I assume that will be a good experience for you. I've never had to use a machine without C-Flex but I can't imagine having to breathe out against a pressure setting of 10, as you say you've been doing.

You'll want to be sure and clean the foam filter that's on the back of the machine every so often. Just rinse it out under warm water and be sure it's dry before you put it back in place.

Best of luck with your new machine!
