Using Airsense S10 to dry the hose
Using Airsense S10 to dry the hose
Hi,
Sometimes when I wash my hose and mask in the morning, they aren't quite dry at night. One thing I can do is just run warm air through the CPAP to quickly dry them, which others do.
My question is this. If I leave it running for awhile, like 30 minutes, will it screw up my stats? Will it show I had major leaks one night?
Thanks.

What do you think would happen if you left it damp? Letting your machine run an extra 30 minutes a day amounts to 182 hours a year wear on your machine.

I don't know.zilch wrote:My question is this. If I leave it running for awhile, like 30 minutes, will it screw up my stats? Will it show I had major leaks one night?

You can use available software to see what or if it shows up.
I don't think it registers as large leak but might show up as "machine on but no breathing detected".
I have an Air Curve but I haven't had a chance to see what prolonged machine blowing without me attached would do.
I don't think it really messes with the stats all that much but I haven't tested it.
If I think about it tonight I will run it for a short while without my being attached to see what happens with the data.
There's no urgent need for the hose and mask to be 100% dry at the start of the night because it's just going to have humidified air going through it making it moist pretty much from the beginning.

I just got a hurricane dryer. One of the best things I have ever got everything dry when I'm ready to go to bed.

This make a lot of sense......wash the hose to get rid of possible germs and then hang it to dry in the most germ filled room in the house.xxyzx wrote:=====================zilch wrote:Hi,

hang it over the rod in the shower
it will be dry enough by night time
else get a fan and blow air through it
i would not use the xpap for drying purposes

Great Idea, That way you get all the germs you won't have in the hose before you clean it. Good as usual, XXXXX Jimxxyzx wrote:=====================zilch wrote:Hi,

Recheck that on the bottom of your bathroom trash can, where the other DOC's are.

I don't think there is any reason to dry it out extra before using. You will have humidity running, so it's just going to have moisture in it again. If you run into problems with rainout, then place your machine at a lower level or turn humidity down or get a cozy for the tube. My nightstand is a double decker, so in the summer, I can just put it lower than usual to avoid that problem.

Re: Using Airsense S10 to dry the hose
To answer the original question which was "does letting the machine blow to dry the hose or mask affect the stats".
Last night I turned my machine (AirCurve 10) on for about 20 minutes before I went to bed and let it blow those 20 minutes.
I just now got through checking my data in both SleepyHead and ResScan and it doesn't appear to show anything about the 20 minutes when I wasn't attached except for max leak number ...it shows 120 L/min and I didn't hit that anywhere on the graphs from when I was attached.
Otherwise it doesn't seem to affect hours of use or 95% leak numbers. It's like it didn't happen except for the max leak number.
I was expecting maybe some sort of "machine on but no breathing detected" flagging but there wasn't any in either software.

Re: Using Airsense S10 to dry the hose
As for me, only clean filtered air blows thru mine, so it doesn't need washed or dried! If I DID wash and Dried mine in the BEDROOM, i'd make sure it DIDN'T scrape off any of the Chewing Gum I keep on the BEDPOST!
