heater plate quit working on my dads cpap machine

Post by springman946 » Sat Jun 03, 2017 3:11 pm

so this morning when I got up my dad asked me to look at his cpap machine because the humidifier quit working on the unit he tells me that the machine is only 2 years old but I do not know the exact date as to when he got the unit because if it is under the 2 years but the date he got it has not come around yet would insurance pay for a new one, even if it was after the 2 years would insurance pay for it because I would think that if the humidifier just bit the dust and the machine is under 5 years old they would have to replace the unit also theirs a message on the screen that says system heat fault machine will run without heat why would the Humidifier just quit working after 2 years? however the machine still works my dad has the air sense 10 cpap machine.

About all you can do is ask the DME he got it from if it is under warrantee or if they can fix it. Otherwise you are probably out of luck unless you want to pay out of pocket. Also I would call the insurance company and find out if there is anything that can done from their end with a defective machine.

If he got it under Medicare, the DME "should" be able to check it, and send it in for repair/replacement.
Medicare usually covers a loaner machine for the interim.
If it is private insurance, contact them, because they are all different.
Now would be a good time to look for an emergency machine, if insurance wants to leave him high and dry.

The humidifier for AirCurve 10 machines is detachable and can be replaced separately from the main unit.

Most of us have back up machines just for such emergencies. You can often find machines on Craig's list for reasonable prices. Member grayghost4 often has machines for very reasonable prices. Try sending him a PM.

This statement is TOTALLY INCORRECT! Only the TANK is detatchable.
The humidifier in ALL Airsense 10 and Aircurve 10 machines is BUILT IN
Could you please refrain from supplying WRONG information?
I had to bite my tongue SO HARD to keep from calling you horrible things!
Thanks to you, I may have to eat with a spoon for days.
Have you any IDEA how many yummy crickets will get away from me?
I get hungry just thinking about it.

That is one thing we will never be able to fault D. H. on, KEEPING QUIET when he doesn't know anything about a post subject, that's when he types the fastest.

Chunkyfrog, use a fork on the crickets. and peas... or chocolatevcoat them. Jim

I eat my grubs with honey,
I've done it all my life.
It makes the grubs taste funny,
But it keeps them on my knife.

This is why I like my S9....I found a back up on CL with only 12 run hours. If the humidifier goes, it is replaceable.

Google to see if by any chance this is a known problem with your dad's particular machine. If so, it could help the replacement go faster if there's no proof or inspection in the process. Happened with me once and with one phone call the DME ordered a replacement machine. If that machine is operable with the heat turned off without there being any fire hazard, it could make how you approach the necessary change. I'm probably not the only one who would like to hear how this works out.
