Anybody else use medication to sleep?
lunesta
I found lunesta is the only rx drug worth taking. i have tried them all. the only drawback is the bad taste, which does indeed seem to go away. when there is a toss-up between having a bad taste but feeling refreshed the next day, or waking up too early or with a hangover, give me penny-mouth any day!!!
Just reread your first post and realized you said you have chronic pain-is it being effectively treated. Chronic pain is often not well treated-everyone is afraid of getting addicted-docs are afraid to writ scrips for pain meds-and quite frankly many do not know mush about chronic pain management. So are you near a center for pain management-I think you are. Doesn't Univ of Minnesota have one? How far away is that? ( Yea Californians have no sense of distance).
And if you still have insomnia after the pain is controlled-they can recommend a safe combination of medications & nonpharmacologic techniques to manage both problems-and your sleep apnea too.

Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.....Galbraith's Law

I am currently taking (at my doctor's recommendation because of insomnia) 8mg Rozerim and also 3 mg Lunesta. It seems to work for me 3 0ut of 4 times. The Rozerim is to help get my sleep cycle back in proper working order, then I will attempt no lunesta!Brian Hinther wrote:Somebody should probably bring up melatonin (maybe me). It's natural, OTC, cheap, and works like a champ for me. I take 3 mg timed release capsules I get from vitacost.com.
I was taking 3 mg melatonin also, but someone told me that sometimes right before bed is not the time for some people to take it? I guess it is up to your preference. Whatever works! I need sleep!

I’ve used Ambien (10mg) since June 2006. I had a heart attack May 27th and double bypass surgery May 28th. Since then I’ve had trouble sleeping due to incision pain and interference from heart meds. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in July and started CPAP in August. I haven’t experienced any negative side effects from the Ambien.
