Taking Your CPAP On Vacation

Post by Sleepless on LI » Fri Sep 22, 2006 4:52 pm

Important information regarding security screening of PAP devices

Due to recently heightened security measures, many people are concerned about the use of positive airway pressure (PAP) devices onboard commercial flights.

According to the Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration, checkpoint security screening procedures for persons with disabilities, medical conditions and the mature have NOT changed as a result of the increased security measures. All disability-related equipment, aids and devices, including CPAP machines, continue to be allowed through security checkpoints once cleared through screening.

In addition, the limit of one carry-on and one personal item (purse, briefcase or computer case) does not apply to medical supplies, equipment, mobility aids or assistive devices carried or used by a person with a disability.

I traveled the same day the new restrictions were put in place because of the bust in
England and no problem excpet no distilled water with me. They will want to search it though.

The only time I have a problem is when I take the puddle jumpers where the roon is limited and they give in with an argument and put it with the pilots luggage.

Since we're getting off topic now, I'll add that I'd like to send my MASK on a vacation! Maybe it will be more compliant after the trip?

Bionic Goofproof can no longer be scanned at airports, It doesn't matter, I used up all my air miles in 1965-1966, 24,000 of them. Jim
