Very interesting question, and I was surprised when the new headgear I received two days ago was "improved". The woman on the phone said "they were aware of the problem with the current headgear and were taking steps to fixing it" I was unaware she was sending it to me.

Now I'm wondering if she sent me off an improved "prototype". Like testing it out on people or something before they start implemeting it with the Hybrid total mask package.

I would think that if peopld call the number like I did they also would receive an improved version too, but who knows, maybe it was a mistake that I received a beta-version. I'm certainly not complaining, but I am wondering though because Sleepless in St Louis (Tim) just received his new mask two days ago, and his did NOT have the new headgear in it.

Suzy,
There is obviously inventory in the pipeline i.e. at DMEs, online retailers etc that will have the old headgear. My guess is that you will see the new headgear in the Hybrid once that inventory is flushed out of the system.

supply chain

Post by wolftracker » Thu Aug 24, 2006 5:20 am

my guess is ppl just getting masks now are getting them thru the
supply chain ... and it will probably take a couple of weeks to get
new ones in the supply chain ...

you got your new head gear from the source not the chain.

hope to get my updated head gear today ....

it is so funny to be excited to get cpap head gear as a
highlight to your day ....

only 8 hours til i can go check
is it really that long

Warehouses may still have some of the headgear boxed with the "old" headgear so when ordering I would specify that you want the improved/new headgear. Did anyone who got the new headgear notice if there is a new order number on the box or anyway a person could tell it was the new design (esp if it is their first Hybrid and haven't seen the old gear). I'll check when mine gets here.

hybrid headgear replacement

Post by Maryb » Thu Aug 24, 2006 11:01 am

You convinced me. I am tired of that velcro slipping and having to tie my mask down with additional panty hose straps.
I just called the manufacturer and they were great! They also asked me for other feedback on the Hybrid. I think if you had other issues with the mask, they would help you out there too.
She said that they were sending me the new version of the straps and that they were in the process of replacing the old straps with the new version in their mask kits and as a replacement part.
I can't wait to get the new headgear!

Last night was the first time I had any trouble with mine. The top strap is fine, but I woke up with the mask laying beside me in the bed with the bottom right strap completely undone and the clip still attached to its hook. I just got off the phone with Innomed and a new headgear is on the way! Thanks, Suzy!

LadyTonya,
I hope you like the new headgear too. They shipped it very fast, like 2day shipping. You don't have to have the top strap (above head) quite as tight with this newer headgear. With older headgear I had to pull it so tight to keep the pillows from slipping from my nose, that I had huge red marks under my nose every morning.

Good Luck, hope you get it pronto.

Hi Everyone, I have been using the hybrid for only 3 days and have already noticed that the velcro on the over the head piece is beginning to weaken. I called the 800 # and was told that new headgear was going to be available in 5 weeks and that it would be available through Teleflex. I asked if they were going to replace the inferior designed headgear that they currently have and I was told no that I would have to purchase the headgear if I wish to receive it. Sounds like a crock to me.

It took me 2 months to get this mask through Apria (what a joke that company is...they wouldnt know how to return a phone call if there life depended on it, I heard week after week when I finally got in touch with a human that the mask would be here in a couple of days.. took them 8 weeks)

Is there someone special I need to speak to in order to obtain the new Hybrid Headgear?

thanks for a great forum,
Chuck

Sorry you guys!

Post by snoozie_suzy » Fri Sep 22, 2006 4:41 pm

Hi you guys! Sorry wasn't trying to be cryptic and only email one person, I just didn't want to post a reply and bore everybody from what I thought had been widely discussed recently. I will see if I can dig up the thread and repost.....

anyhow I believe that recently it was posted that Innomed was no longer sending replacements out for free. I am not sure if my initial email 2 months ago might have "opened the floodgates" so to speak and perhaps sparked a huge influx of calls to the company. But it was posted (around the time that the Marketing director of Innomed posted, and everyone thought it was spam== maybe 6 weeks ago) that they were no longer offering FREE replacements of the headgear, but that in the very near future the beefier headgear would be shipped with the mask automatically, and that what some people rec'd in the meanwhile was just backstock in circulation.

Will try to find that older post and repost!
