I had my tonsils out as a child and the remnants of my tonsils removed as an adult, and I have sleep apnoea. Hope the test goes well for you.
Best wishes.

YEP! Had mine out (T&A) when I was about 7....didn't prevent me from getting "severe" OSA. Don't count on it.

Good luck,

My mother insisted that all of us kids get our tonsils and adenoids removed as children. Three out of the six are currently using CPAPs.

I had them out at age 18. (Ugh, not a fun time either.)

I know the day I had them out-it was my fifth birthday-Happy Birthday!

Mine were gone nearly 60 years ago. I've snored all my life and obviously had apnea as well, until cpap therapy anyway. I don't think that the absence of tonsils will have much of a bearing on your doc's diagnosis.

Add me to the list. Tonsils gone since 1956. Almost bled to death in the process. Didn't protect me from apnea. Wherever you got your assumption, put it on the roses.

My idential twin and I had our tonsils out when we wr about 5 yrs old. I have moderate sleep apnea and she doesn't ... Go figure!

The ENT told me that it looks like part of one of the tonsils may have grown back partially or it may be scar tissue. Interestingly, my twins son (technically i guess he is my 1/2 son too!) has HUGE tonsils and they did a sleep study on him and based on his results he does not have apnea. But boy are they big!

I remember the hospital stay not being very enjoyable. Our parents didn't get to stay with us... it was horrible.

Best,
Teri

Another one here with no tonsils. My pulmonologist took one look at my throat and was convinced I would have sleep apnea before I even had the sleep study. She was basing her opinion on the fact that my mouth/throat are very small.

I am like linda B.

Tonsils out as a child due to infections.

My pulmonologist looked at the inside of my throat, and said I had a very small throat/passage or whatever. Overnight complete hook up confirmed sleep apnea. 5 night hookup to xCPPAP to figure out titration.

Dear Curious Guest,

In response to your thoroughly reasonable question I posted an answer followed by this:
"Wherever you got your assumption, put it on the roses."

I don't post often. I must have been trying to make myself look witty.
Instead I made myself look like an {anatomical reference}.

I apologize. Nothing in your question deserved insulting behavior.

Please don't be reluctant to post because some of us are occasionally rude.
