warm air leakage

Post by capon » Sat May 27, 2017 9:43 am

I've been using a PR System One for several years. However recently I've been experiencing waking up in the middle of the night with dryness. Although my humidifier system works because I can feel the tank warm , I'm wondering if the elbow seal is leaking. It's as though warm air is getting into the air path which causes the hot/dryness that I'm experiencing. Has anyone experienced this? It's to the point that I have to remove my mask (Swift FX) and get cool air for relief.
I'm at a loss. That elbow seal seams ok but it is a few years old. I do remove it weekly and wash it and other components (tank, hoses, nasal pads) in a warm dawn & water solution as initially instructed. Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Are you certain that for whatever reason, you haven't started mouth breathing?

Julie, I'm pretty sure I'm not mouth breathing. Otherwise why would my sinuses and throat be so dry? It's also warm air.
I'm wondering if the elbow seal is supposed to be pushed up so that it is flush against the humidifier lid or is it supposed to be positioned onto the fitting so that it's just barely retained but will seal against the tank's lid.

Don't know your machine at all, so can't help there, but also don't get your response about m. breathing... if you were doing it then your throat would be dry, FFM or not.
