Amara View Mask - anyone like it?

Post by bettiola » Fri May 12, 2017 10:45 am

I've been on cpap for two years now and have struggled with the usual typical problems - finding a mask that fits, reducing air leaks, etc. I've more or less adapted to using the Quatro Air although because of a small bony outcrop on either side of the upper part of my nose it's still uncomfortable. The ideal mask seems to be the Holy Grail of the cpap world. I tecently tried an Amara View and thought it mght be an improvement because the mask doesn't lie against the problem area of my nose. I'm waiting for one to be sent to me from my DMS. In doing a search here I see only negative comments about the Amara View. I'm wondering if there Is anyone out there who actually likes it?

There are a lot of positive comments here about the Amara View mask. More positive than negative I would think.
It's like any mask out there. There are going to be lovers and haters of any mask. You will just have to try it to see which way it will be for you.

I actually rather liked it myself and kept it for just in case I couldn't use my usual nasal pillow mask for some reason.

There are some reviews at cpap.com
did you read them?

I'm one of the ones who had problems with it. I certainly didn't hate it and I wish I could have kept it for a backup, but my DME made me swap it out for something else today. I'm in that one month window with Medicare where I have to come to terms with a single mask and after that, they'll trade out every three months. Anyway, make sure you get someone with a little experience to help you learn how to get a good, consistent fit. When the nasal hole gets out of sync, you feel as though you're not getting enough air and you become aware of air leaks. I loved their innovative concept and if you're one of the lucky ones, you'll have the best of both worlds. Good luck and don't give up on it until you give it a fair trial.

I have been using the Amara View for about a year and a half now . I have tried other masks but my favorite is the amara view. You have to make sure you have the right size. Initially I used a large but I was getting too many leaks so I went to a medium and my leaks are almost non-existent. I am a side sleeper and it works very well for me. I strongly recommend it, however not every one is the same.

I used the Amara View for over a year. I could not find a mask that would seal around the bridge of my nose which is very narrow. I was very happy with the Amara View, but it always left a red spot on the end of my nose. I think the large was a little too small for me. I recently switched to the F20 which has been working very well for me.

I think I might like it---if they would make it in my size.

Thanks, everyone! No, I hadn't read the reviews, thanks for the link, Pugsy. It's good to know there are some happy users out there! I tried a nasal pillow and a nasal mask but I found exhaling too difficult with them. I also tried the new Dreamware that my niece uses and likes - I wanted to like it because there's less paraphenalia to deal with, but I just didn't. I'm waiting for the day when we can get custom-made 3-D printed masks!

I have a friend who uses the Amara View and loves it. So when I got my first mask, I got a View also. After three days, I took it back and demanded a different mask.

Then I found a link to a blog post on how to adjust a mask for proper fit, and that answered a lot of my problems! A few weeks ago, my DME gave me a View as a loaner; after taking the time to adjust it well, I used it for a week and loved it. I just went back yesterday and got me a new one.

it's my first mask and I hate it so much that I can't sleep and returned the machine. It all depends on how your feel and face structure. It's loud and leaking all over the place for me when I loosen it up. I had to keep and paid for the mask tho since no one can use it anymore. I started the cpap machine and nasal pillow mask half year later. At least I can tolerate it now.
