Sleepyhead and Celluar - Airsense 10
Sleepyhead and Celluar - Airsense 10
HI all,
First, I've searched all over looking for the answer, so either I suck at searching, or it's not readily out there.
I've been on CPAP therapy for a few weeks now, and I'm adjusting nicely. However, my insurance is monitoring my usage for, I think, three months before they will pay for the machine. The reports go automatically through celluar; I'm in the states.
I've been using the myAir website to track how well I sleep, but the details are extremely limited. From my understanding using sleepyhead gives a ton more inside into my sleep data. My concern would be if I put in an SD card to record my results, will the machine still report via cellular at the same time, as required for insurance.
Basic Info:
Diagnosis: Server OSA
Machine: Airsense 10
Pressure: 8
Mask: Full
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Re: Sleepyhead and Celluar - Airsense 10
Using the SD card to view the results on SH doesn't affect the data transmission in any shape or form.
In fact if there was no SD card in the machine...it would still transmit.
The machine doesn't need the SD card at all to transmit data but even if it did...SleepyHead doesn't do anything to the SD card contents at all.
There's nothing in SH to mess with any of the files on the SD card.
No one will know you did anything with that SD card unless you tell them.

As recommended by Sleepyhead, be sure to slide the write-protect tab on the card before inserting in your PC.
Although Sleepyhead does not write to the card, iI understand that windows sometimes likes to write a hidden desktop file to the card.
I have had no issues using Sleepyhead with my AirSense 10 AutoSet while also using MyAir. My DME and medical people also had no problems getting my data from ResMed.

That little warning is really for the benefit of some Mac users and some Windows users who happen to use the ResMed S9.
It was the S9 that had a problem with that little text file that some Macs and Windows (8.0 and higher) would put on the SD card.
The AirSense/AirCurve machines don't care.
Respironics machines don't care.
I am using Windows 10 and an AirCurve machine for past couple of months. I haven't bothered to lock the SD card once and the AirCurve hasn't squawked once about that little text file.
Now my S9....when I would forget to lock it (which was often because I had been using Windows 7 for years) it would squawk.
Even then it was fixable by removing the text file without having to erase the card.

Thanks for the replies', currently it has no SD card installed. I was concerned if I installed one, it would stop transmitting the data over the airwaves. But it sounds like it will do both without a hitch.
For the sake of ease of use, I might just purchase a wireless SD card.
Thanks again!

Nope, go ahead put one in. I'm a little surprised it was delivered without one.
Do remember to slide the no-write bar before you put it into your desktop or laptop computer. Also, remember to slide it back before you put it in back into your CPAP.
Re: Sleepyhead and Celluar - Airsense 10
Make sure you get the correct one. Not any old wireless card will work.zerocool wrote:For the sake of ease of use, I might just purchase a wireless SD card.
See this page and follow the links where it says "Transfer data from cpap machine"

That doesn't matter with the OPs machine.prodigyplace wrote:As recommended by Sleepyhead, be sure to slide the write-protect tab on the card before inserting in your PC.

I'm not surprised. I believe the machine ships with a card, but my DME was not going to install mine until I specifically said my doctor wanted me to bring the card in on my next visit.D.H. wrote:

Re: Sleepyhead and Celluar - Airsense 10
First week complete on auto-pap and first time using an SD card in my ResMed AirSense 10.
I was told by the RT that set me up that any SD card will do (as mine was without a card when I picked it up). Not to sound ignorant, but do you have to actually have it in the machine while sleeping to get data or can you put it in and download data to it without being asleep?
I placed the card into the slot and it said it was preparing data for the card. But, the little LED light went from orange to nothing and wasn't sure what it was doing and the machine manual is of no help.
Any advice is helpful. I downloaded SleepyHead and plan to use that for data.
Thank you.

I would keep it in there. However, I don't think you really need to.SedonaDreaming wrote:First week complete on auto-pap and first time using an SD card in my ResMed AirSense 10.

Re: Sleepyhead and Celluar - Airsense 10
The AirSense 10 machines store only minimal summary usage data on the internal memory.
To get all the detailed stuff that SleepyHead shows the SD card must be in the machine all the time it is being used.
When you put the blank SD card into the machine ...the machine was writing just that summery usage data to the SD card.

Thanks for the feedback and advise.
I am hopeful that the SDHD card that's in there will work.
Have a great night!

That is not enough info on the machine, need the model. If your DME is stiffing you on a SD card, he likely just gave you a crappy CPAP machine.zerocool wrote: Basic Info:

Does it say CPAP on the front? If so, you won't get any useful data. My doctor always asks me to bring in the card.
