Ears feel stuffy

Post by cpapabuser » Thu Sep 14, 2006 3:47 pm

Here lately I have woken up and my ears feel stuffy, has anyone else experienced anything similar to this? I feel fine when I during the day, my ears feel normal it's just at night while sleeping with my cpap.

I have that too!! I am quite sure it is air forced up the eustacian tubes.

It gets up there when I swallow while on CPAP.

It is annoying since I spend some of the morning with reduced hearing while it slowly clears (in time to hose up again for bed) but frankly I would rather lose a bit of hearing and feel good than be the way I used to feel.

I am going to an ENT just to check things out in a week or so.

I also have yet to see if when I get a cold I may be more prone to ear infections. I am on my first cold since starting CPAP in April. I am also wondering if I have been ill less due to getting better sleep as April to Sept for me for the last couple of years is a long stretch for being without a cold of some sort.

Any allergies? It is the time of year when dust and pollen have accumulated and you could have a little inflammation that causes your ears to plug up when the CPAP pressure hits your airway.

I too feel this pressure build up in my ears when I first put on my mask every night and swallow. But I think it is that time of year, b/c I'm starting to have a little pleghm in my throat @ night. Maybe I'll use my Flonase for a while.

I had the pressure from day one.

I was an "ear infection child" and I have sensitive ears. They plug easily.

But given the choice of dragging around tired or losing a tiny bit of hearing to stuffiness, I will take the stuffiness.
