Cpap shutting off in hotels.
Cpap shutting off in hotels.
Has anyone had any kind of problems with their CPAP shutting off in hotels? I have no problems at home but whenever I go out of town and need to stay in a hotel, it will run for a little while then it will shut off and then I will turn it on again only to do this over and over every 15-20 min. But like I said it works fine at home. Any ideas????
Re: Cpap shutting off in hotels.
USA or some other area of the world. European and Asian hotels use your room card to keep the power on.
Sounds like some kind of power interruption. Bad connection in plugin to wall socket etc....
I have stayed in hotels where the outlets were badly worn and you had to wiggle the cord just so to get any power.... Sometimes you get a discount to compensate.....

Unplug the effing CLOCK!
Your clock is in your phone--or at least I have one in mine.
Bring a power strip so you can keep things charged.
Be sure to bitch at the desk.

I noticed that. First one, to my recollection.
Apparently, my provider is starting to reuse IP addresses, or something.

Yep. When you have too many frogs in the pond, you can't tell which one is singing.chunkyfrog wrote:I noticed that. First one, to my recollection.

Main thing, Don't Croak! I hate it when my hotel room becomes a crime scene. JimDreamStalker wrote:Yep. When you have too many frogs in the pond, you can't tell which one is singing.chunkyfrog wrote:I noticed that. First one, to my recollection.

The night stand holds my phone AND cpap
but I'm not gonna bitch at either.
I think this is a really bizarre problem.

Is this one hotel (or chain) in particular? If so, stay somewhere else!

Lots of "ideas", but you've given us absolutely nothing to go on.AceP68 wrote:Has anyone had any kind of problems with their CPAP shutting off in hotels? We have no idea what machine you're using or if you're monitoring your therapy with software.
It could be that you're massively leaking air and the "Auto-Off" feature is enabled and is shutting your machine off.
If you have a data-capable machine, use some software (like Sleepyhead) to see your data and you will probably find the answers in the reports.

Welcome. Please sign up for an ID and fill in the equipment on your profile so we know what kind of CPAP machine you have.AceP68 wrote:Has anyone had any kind of problems with their CPAP shutting off in hotels? Sometimes this happens if your machine is set to auto shut off when you remove the mask and you get a large mouth leak. If you take off your mask for a minute or so, does your machine shut off? You can usually change this behaviour.
It might not be a bad idea to get a small plug strip surge protector and use it during hotel travel.
