Greetings. I have a new Resmed S10 which is working well. The only annoyance is that I get SMS messages from Apria (my DME provider) and am wondering where i can specify who I want to share my data with. I don't recall specifically allowing Apria to collect my data, but I suspect it was burried in the small print I signed when I picked up the machine. Specifically, I am wondering how I can control who receives my data when it "auto dials" to report my sleep usage.
Thanks
S10 reporting control
Re: S10 reporting control
You most likely need to contact the DME who dispensed the machine to make any changes (if you can) as to who gets the data from your machine.
There was probably something in the Apria paperwork mentioning access to the data the machine transmits.
Apria may need access so it can verify usage so that they can tell your insurance company you are using it and thus they should get paid for it.
Now you can control when the machine transmits the data but turning airplane mode on...then it works like a computer in an airplane and it can't transmit anything.
You can also bypass letting Apria have anything and give them a copy of the SD card (which has usage hours on it) and never let the machine transmit any data of any kind but there's no personally identifiable information being transmitted.
The machine serial number is transmitted but someone would need to be able to tie your name to that serial number to figure out the data was yours.
I suggest that you contact Apria to find out exactly what they are wanting and why and then you decide how you want to handle it.

Re: S10 reporting control
Contact the DME. Generally, you have given permission for DME to provide the information to your insurance company and your doctor. Once compliance (which guarantees them payment) has been reached, then they don't care any more. Then you can just use the MyAir thing if you want. Otherwise, you will have to use the Airplane mode until your warranty has expired. Then you can disable the modem (doing earlier will void your warranty). There was a step-by-step that someone had uploaded on one of the threads, but you will need to buy a torx screwdriver to take the machine apart. In any case, when that time comes, you could always post and ask if you can't find it in the forum.
The only data that is uploaded is compliance info and leaks. You are identified only by your serial number so even if someone accessed the info, not much they can do with it unless they knew exactly which machine you had. However, disabling the modem ALSO means that you won't get any software updates, although those are pretty rare.
That said, nobody should be able to mess with the settings on your machine. I believe that even the DME has to have both the serial number and 3 digit code of your machine in order to change any setting, so it would be pretty hard for someone outside the office to change your settings.

hooking a hose and mask up to a S10 isn't recommended.
