Activa + cflex = accordion?

Post by wahooker » Tue Sep 12, 2006 6:37 am

Does anyone else feel like an accordion is on their face while using an activa mask and a cpap with cflex?

I lowered the cflex level by 1, and adjusted the straps so it wasn't as noticeable, but my wife thought it was hilarious the first night I had it on. THe mask kept going up and down up and down.

Yes LOL. I run cflex on 2 and it's not that bad once my breathing synchs up but it is weird at first hehe.

Facial massage will keep you looking younger.

I think it feels more like a jellyfish trying to free itself from my face than an accordion.

I suppose the movement is a little annoying? But, does the mask feel light on your face, not like it is being pressed against your face.

I'd like to try one....next.

Coming from other styles of masks, it almost feels too loose... But no leaks that I have noticed so far.

It acts that way even on CPAPs without C-Flex. It does calm down after a while. The advantages to the Activa is you can keep the straps loose and it does seal well. However, I have to say it is one of my heavier feeling masks, because in order to seal it does apply pressure. For side sleeping it is the one nasal mask that works best tho.

I have an Activa and I really like it a lot.
Recently I got a new RemStar Plus M series w/ CFLEX, and the first time I tried it with CFLEX on the "1" setting, I thought "No way could I get used to this". So I immediately disabled the CFLEX and that was the end of that nuisance for me.

I still think the Mirage Activa is the best (for me) so far...

way back when, when I was semi regular to this board, someone described it as "a love sick octopus"

It's my first mask - and still my backup

That is a common problem with the Activa and cflex. It is a result of the design of the Activa's active cell interface. However, it is that active cell interface that makes the Activa such a good mask for all sleeping positions and for people who move around a lot during sleep. I had to reduce the cflex to 2 and I also notice that as I relax and my breathing calms, the problem goes away.

tighten the straps a bit more if it is bothering you, it takes it out.
