Day 11 - Humidifier Question
The water tank for the humidifier seems to run out before I wake up. There is a max fill line and I am careful bot to exceed it. Humidity and Heat settings both set at 3. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.
Re: Day 11 - Humidifier Question
How many hours are you usually using it or sleeping?
Where you live what the ambient humidity in your home?

Re: Day 11 - Humidifier Question
Can you sleep with the heat turned down to 2?
Re: Day 11 - Humidifier Question
Your pressures are relatively high and that alone will use up more water than someone using half your pressure.
How many settings for humidity does your DreamStation have with the heated hose? I was thinking the setting of 3 was a relatively low setting and that it went up to 6 or 8. I can't find the manual to read up on it..I downloaded it but I put it somewhere I can't find it.
I don't think changing the hose air temp will affect the water consumption but it might allow condensation if your bedroom ambient air temp is on the cool side.
If the setting of 3 for humidity is already on the low side...reducing the humidity setting might cause the nose to rebel.
Probably need to use the software and make sure large leaks aren't happening all over the place...large leaks will also increase water consumption.
Higher pressures will also increase water consumption.
If leaks aren't the problem could you keep a spare water chamber in your bedroom already filled with water and if you wake in the middle of the night just swap out the water chamber?
When you do run out of water how is it annoying to you? Is it the stink from the hot plastic or does your nose get unhappy when it gets dried out?
I ran out of water one night last week but I slept a bit longer than usual and I am using a relatively high humidity setting. The water chamber got that "hot plastic smell" but it wasn't real bad so I didn't run out of water until shortly before I woke up.
In the past I have had it happen when I forgot to top off the chamber and it goes dry in the middle of the night and stinks something awful by the time I wake up plus my nose reacts to the lack of moisture in a real ugly manner.

Re: Day 11 - Humidifier Question
My Philips System One can run out of water after about 5 hours if I have it up high. It could last all night if I run it on 2 or so. I learned not to allow it to run dry. The metal plate will burn. Then it's not so good and have to get a new one. I'm covered for it's only $2.74, but only one each six months.

Re: Day 11 - Humidifier Question
This does seem to be an issue with the DreamStation models. Since I get up at least one each night to pee, I refill the tank to the line at that time. This might not work for everybody and might disturb a bed partner.

I am generally sleeping 8 to 8.5 hours each night. Humidity in our home is in the 30 -40% range.Pugsy wrote:How many hours are you usually using it or sleeping?

The chamber doesn't put off any odor that I notice when it is running and empty. i just wake up with more of a dry mouth. Not having any leak problems according to the machine.Pugsy wrote:Your pressures are relatively high and that alone will use up more water than someone using half your pressure.

I've put a small pitcher next to the machine so if I am awake, I can refill the humidifier overnight. Thanks for the suggestion.D.H. wrote:This does seem to be an issue with the DreamStation models.
