Frustrated at my AHI Numbers

Post by vlad2075 » Wed Mar 01, 2017 10:25 am

Ok so I've been using the cpap machine for about 4 months now. Recently my AHI #'s shot up way past 6 for at least twice a week. This has been happening for about a month now. One night it's 2.1 next it shoots up to 7.4, 6.6 etc. I don't get why it does that?

I even upped the pressure from 10 to 11 to see if that does the trick and it hasn't. Also, one night this week I registered a 0 for AHI.

Is something wrong with my Dream Station??

What is the event category breakdown of that AHI?
How much is the Clear Airway/Central index?
How much is the Obstructive Apnea Index?
How much is the Hyponea index?

Where are you getting your AHI numbers? Of the machine? DreamMapper? Software reports?

Don't have enough information to do more than guess but if your AHI is mostly OA or hyponeas and sometimes it's nice and low and sometimes it isn't then sometimes the pressure isn't doing a good job and maybe for some reason you are need a lot more pressure for parts of the night and not others.
Usually this is because of REM stage sleep events or maybe sleeping on one's back more some nights than other nights and the person needs more pressure during REM or when they are on their back.

You need to be using the software to see the detailed daily events/graphs so you know if there is any clustering or whatever going on.

My best guess is that sometimes you are maybe on your back or in REM sleep more than other nights and you probably need more pressure part of the night and not necessarily all of the night.
How much more is anyone's guess.
