Yep, unfortunate. <sigh> . I wish sleep docs and others involved would do the right thing here and give people data capable machines..if only so the doc can see what's really going on :/.

Sadly I'm on medicaid and this brick will just have to do. I'm already bracing myself for the possibility I'll lose coverage. I'll go in and change the ahi setting and go from there. I really don't want to mess anything up and lose my cpap all together.

Looking at anything on your machine isn't going to cause you to lose the machine.
No one will know unless you tell them but you aren't breaking any laws anyway.
If you have a brick there's nothing to see though except hours of use.

Unfortunately without data there's no way to evaluate if your therapy is even optimal or not or if you just need more time..
No amount of "time" will help if the therapy is sub optimal.
If you continue to feel no improvement you doctor can order a full data machine (maybe on a trial basis) to evaluate the therapy and Medicaid will likely cover a trial...heck they would cover a full data machine now if the DME and doctor would just order it.

What model machine Medicaid will actually cover depends a lot on the state where your Medicaid is involved. Different state Medicaids have different policies. I know a guy here in Missouri on Medicaid and he got a full data apap machine covered by Medicaid because that's what his doctor ordered.

I'll let others chime in on whether you can successfully lobby for a better machine...who knows, maybe it's possible.

Yep, with the AHI display at least you'll have a daily record of that (as well as a 7 day and 30 day average). It's better than nothing, and more or less what you need to get an overall idea of the therapy. If you get more adventures you can try bumping up the pressure a little bit at a time to see if you can get AHI down any more, but you're already in a pretty good place. You just can't see any detail about the types of events being recorded.

If she has the DSX200...it's a brick and there is no AHI available at all from any source.

There's probably a modem in the machine. Look on the left hand side of it; if there's a little door there, lift it and you can will see the modem. On the right hand side of the machine, where the air filters are, there's an SD card.

Ug, didn't realize that. Wow. So it doesn't even sense events at all, or it just doesn't display them? The DME claims to have AHI and leak data.

Please look for the model number of your machine on the bottom of your machine. The model number will look, in part, something like this:
DreamStation Auto BiPAP DSX700
DreamStation BiPAP Pro DSX600
DreamStation Auto CPAP DSX500
DreamStation CPAP Pro DSX400
DreamStation CPAP DSX200
Don't forget to remove the water from the humidifier tank before turning the machine over.

Well...I still don't know for sure which model she has.
I am only assuming right now because it was reported that SH said that it was not compatible and that only happens if
1...the machine is a brick
or
2...SleepyHead version is old and not compatible and while not impossible for someone to stumble upon an old version...it takes some digging to find it. Hence the request to determine which SH version was used.

That's why I asked for specific model number so we know for sure what we are talking about.

DME claims to have the AHI and leak...I haven't seen any proof and when it comes to how DMEs often treat Medicaid patients (they get the cheapest of anything available).
I have also known of DMEs to tell someone "everything is fine and your AHI and leak are fine" when they are flat out telling a bald faced lie because the model machine doesn't provide that information.

I want proof of anything...model numbers don't lie.
Now maybe there was a problem with SH and she doesn't have the DSX200...but we need to know the exact model number and then we can see if there is a problem with SH or if the problem is the machine.

Until we know for sure exactly which model machine she has...we are spinning our wheels and getting no where fast when it comes to talking about data.

Yeah, I just assumed if DME was getting something, it had to at least sense/store events. My eternal optimism sometimes makes me blind to such nefarious acts as the DME outright lying to a patient. Let's hope that's not the case, and she's got a fully capable machine.

I'm all rested up now and if the 2nd sleep study determines I need CPAP I guess I'll go back to being exhausted again

So after checking, I do in fact have a pretty little white brick on my nightstand but honestly I'm ok with that. It's better than not having anything at all. The DME provider did not lie to me and sent myself and my doctor a legitimate copy of my compliance report and encouraged me to call back and get updated reports whenever I felt the need. If the dr who I trust, in turn trusts the provider then it's all good with me. Yes it would be great to see the data for myself but I'm no clinician so I'll leave that to the professionals. I was able to find the answer to my original question "where is the relief" by searching posts and reading about other people's experiences including Socal Guy. Thank you for trying to help me figure out my machine and the info about going in and changing my pressure (which I'm terrified to do). Have a good one!

What are all of your settings? Could you post some Sleepyhead reports? Maybe we could come up with some suggestions.
