NEWBIE here. air coming our of hose???

Post by shellybean54 » Fri Jan 27, 2017 10:28 pm

I can feel a LOT of air pouring out of my hose near my nasal pillows. I started on sunday and have yet to endure a whole night with this thing, I am beyond exasperated.

On the hose elbow there is a vent that is there to help blow off the Co2 that you exhale. All masks have venting. Some are quieter than others. If that is where the air is coming from it is normal. If it is from around the swivel ring that joins into the pillows, make sure it is in secure.
With the venting air try to make sure it is not hitting the bed or pillow and blowing back at you.
If this continues to be a problem, you might check out the P10 nasal pillows. The venting on the P10 is very soft and quiet. Here is a link to the user guide for your mask. Even if yours is not the For Her they are the same parts. http://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents/ ... er_eng.pdf

Are you referring to the CO2 venting from the designated patch or something else? Have you turned the machine on while mask is off so you can trace the place more exactly? The CO2 vent needs to stay uncovered, but if there's either a hole/tear somewhere it shouldn't be, or if the hose has been put on at a tiny angle off side leaving a gap, you need to consider either making sure it's on properly and/or using some duct tape.

It is the vent. Thanks. I feel kind of silly now. I wore my mask last night until 3am. I went to bed around 10:30, got up to post this, and went straight back to bed. I am happy with this time. Now, when I say I wore my mask, I do not mean I slept. I was awake quite a bit last night. Hubby snores, and every little thing keeps me from sleeping. BUT, that is the longest I have worn the mask. I am planning on going all out tonight and wearing it until I get up, even if I want to throw it across the room!

Great! You're making progress and don't feel silly when you learn something.

time to strap a mask on him, studies have shown that snoring is bad for your health. I mean, the snorers health, but also for whoever's in the room with 'em too.

Some times it hard to convince a spouse to get tested. I finally got my wife to get tested by telling the doctor she stopped breathing at night when we had our last check up. We are currently waiting for her bipap titration study which is scheduled for this coming Thursday night. I hope this is the last sleep study she has to do. This makes number 3 and she said she will not do any more than this.
