Snoring While Wearing Mask
Snoring While Wearing Mask
I haven't been on this site in a couple of years. A few days ago I woke myself up snoring with my mask on. I have a ResMed AirSense 10 for her and use an AirFit P10 mask.
I know that I must be doing something wrong with my settings but don't know where to start to adjust them. I am battling the flu right now plus I never did start with Sleepyhead before I left the board.

This site will help you learn how to download SleepyHead. https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead
Having some data will give us something to see if there are obvious problems. Can you tell us what your settings are now and what your AHI is running?

Re: Snoring While Wearing Mask
I began waking up snoring when I porked out bad my last year on APAP. Specifically in late 2013/early 2014. I was running my machine in the weakest way possible, 4-20 due to aerophogia problems. I got referred to a bariatric clinic, lost weight. The snoring went away when I lost about twenty pounds, maybe thirty pounds.
The other way to get rid of snoring while your wearing your mask is the obvious, raise your pressure. Thats the way you do it, either raise your pressure if you can tolerate that or lose weight if you are fat.

Re: Snoring While Wearing Mask
My settings are:
Max Pressure 20, Min Pressure 8, Ramp Off, EPR On, EPR Type Full Time, Smart Start On.
Last night's readings:
Events 2.2, Pressure 12.5, Leak 22 L/min, AHI 2.2, Total 1.9, Central 1.3
I am getting over the flu and slept like a baby last night compared to the previous night when I was sneezing into my mask in my sleep.
As for losing weight, yes I could stand to lose 15 lbs. But a couple of years ago I lost 30 lbs. and that's when I developed sleep apnea.

Do you think the end of your "flu" is resolving your snoring issue?jaycee2 wrote:I am getting over the flu and slept like a baby last night compared to the previous night when I was sneezing into my mask in my sleep.
Re: Snoring While Wearing Mask
What pressure was 12.5? 95%? Mid? Max? You most likely need to increase your minimum pressure a bit to 9 or 10.

Re: Snoring While Wearing Mask
The snoring was a few days prior to the flu. A precursor? The only way to know is if I wake myself up snoring again when I'm flu-less.
I can't answer the other question about percentage but sure, I could raise the pressure up to 9 or 10. No problem.

I would raise the pressure only if the snoring is noticed again.jaycee2 wrote:I could raise the pressure up to 9 or 10. No problem.

Since you are getting these from your LCD screen, is your report set for one day?
The options are: 1 Day / 1 Week / 1 Month / 3 Months / 6 Months / 1 Year

Re: Snoring While Wearing Mask
Other than the leak rate getting close to the 24L/min threshold the numbers look good for last night. But that doesn't tell us about the night you had the snore. SleepyHead would allow you to go back and look at that night. As a guess, I would think it was a rare occasion related to mouth breathing. I wouldn't worry about a one time event that could have been related to the illness.
If you want us to look closer post some screen shots from SleepyHead of the night you are concerned about and one of a good night.
If you are sleeping well after getting over your illness, I wouldn't worry.
